Battleground Poll: Obama, Romney in dead heat

We very well may be looking at a massive victory for the GOP in November, taking the House, presidency, and 60+ seats in the Senate.

I'm reading more and more that among likely voters, this is starting to shape up as a relative landslide victory for Romney. Florida, Michigan, Wisconsin, Pennsylvania, Ohio, Missouri.......appear to be going to Romney more heavily by the day.

You may be a little overoptimistic. I'll be voting for Romney, but most voters aren't sitting there thinking that Republicans have been doing a super job in the House.

It'll be more like 2000 or 2004 than 2008. Recounts, recounts and more recounts. One or the other side acting petulant (probably both at various times).

And I know many that do like him. So, yes people do like Obama.

Everybody has someone that likes him. Michelle likes him apparently, and she's a person as far as I can tell.

he will not win on the BS that he is so likeable.... that nonsense has worn thin to most everyone but his most ardent Zerobots

Maybe. If there's one thing to say about our last two Presidents -- likeable guy, terrible Pres.

Oh I know. I was just pointing out the ridiculousness of saying that people do not like him because I know people that do not. Personally I am not a big fan about either of them.

Even according to the statistics you are citing, all you have to do is break it down by state to see that if the election took place today, Obama would still crush Romney. Given current trends, Obama only needs to win 17 of the 115 electoral votes that are in the "battleground" states. All Obama would have to do--if we trust current polling--is win Ohio and Romney would have to concede--just like that. RealClearPolitics - 2012 Election Maps - Battle for White House

Battlegrounds that Favor Obama
And as it turns out, Obama is ahead in Ohio: RealClearPolitics - Election 2012 - Ohio: Romney vs. Obama
As it turns out, he's also ahead in VA: RealClearPolitics - Election 2012 - Virginia: Romney vs. Obama
Oh yeah, there is also NC: RealClearPolitics - Election 2012 - North Carolina: Romney vs. Obama
Surely he'd win CO: RealClearPolitics - Election 2012 - Colorado: Romney vs. Obama
ALSO Iowa: RealClearPolitics - Election 2012 - Iowa: Romney vs. Obama

Battlegrounds that Favor Romney
Romney MIGHT get FL, but it is pretty close: RealClearPolitics - Election 2012 - Florida: Romney vs. Obama
He'd Certainly get AZ: RealClearPolitics - Election 2012 - Arizona: Romney vs. Obama
Romney has solidly got Missouri: RealClearPolitics - Election 2012 - Missouri: Romney vs. Obama
And we'll give him the benefit of the doubt in NH just for the heck of it: RealClearPolitics - Election 2012 - New Hampshire: Romney vs. Obama

That means that if the election was held today, Romney would win 54 of the 100 electoral votes that he would need to get to become president.

Meanwhile, Hussein Obama would win 61 of the 17 votes he needs to win....

So...What are we supposed to be afraid of again?

Actually, likeablilty can get some votes. If a person is unsure on who to vote for, how much a person feels like they can like the candidate does matter.

true..and Obama was able to maximise that as an relatively unknown , today his "unlikable" factor is much higher

Don't believe that. At best it will be a close one for Romney, not a landslide.

Good God, the six month until the erection.

Yep and the GOP likeable factor is much lower.

i hope you all realize these polls are really pointless until october, early november because everything can change between then and now.
I would think if anything the media will purposely keep the polls as close as they can, or at least give the appearence of it being close for ratings. The majority of the MSM might even put a scare into their liberal brethren to get out and vote to keep Obama in office for another 4.

Having said that, I do expect this to be a close race. Things aren't going well economically, and that is always a hard sell for the incumbent POTUS. Romney being a weak GOPer will keep this quite close up to at least mid october unless one of them bombs so bad. I would not be surprised at this being as close as 2000.

I cant wait until people start waking up and relizing Obama doesnt stand a chance in this election.

I'm not voting because neither candidate shares a majority of my views.

You're making the claim that Obama doesn't stand a chance, but how do you know for sure?

Boy this ishas to be really encouraging to Romney and devastating to Hussein Obama.....After the Republicans tore each other apart in the primaries you would think Obama would be way ahead in the polls.

A new POLITICO/George Washington University Battleground Poll finds a dead heat in the presidential race six months before the election.
Mitt Romney edged out President Barack Obama 48 percent to 47 percent among likely voters, a number well within the margin of error, as Republicans rapidly consolidate behind the likely GOP nominee.

Wake us all up in September when such things actually have some meaning. Right now, the polls are of people that are ill-informed on the issues and the candidates. You are calling the horse race while the horses are still in the post position.

Except that you are especially wrong about Ohio (as of right now), Florida it is currently close. Romney will easily win Missouri if 2008 election and current polls are any indication. Wisconsin and Pennyslvania? Lol. Where do you "read" this stuff about this being a landslide victory?

good news

Friday, May 11, 2012

The Rasmussen Reports daily Presidential Tracking Poll for Friday shows Mitt Romney earning 50% of the vote and President Obama attracting 43% support. Four percent (4%) would vote for a third party candidate, while another three percent (3%) are undecided.

Matchup results are updated daily at 9:30 a.m. Eastern (sign up for free daily e-mail update).

This is the first time Romney has reached the 50% level of support and is his largest lead ever over the president. It comes a week after a disappointing jobs report that raised new questions about the state of the economy. See tracking history.

That poll is the first one that has come out since Hussein Obama said he was for gay marriage and the resulst reflect that......I look for the margin to get even bigger.....

Wisconsin has a GOP Governor and legislature and don't forget Hussein Obama offended the people of Pa. in 2008 by calling them and I paraphrase bible toting gun hlding christians and that is exactly the type of people who object to gay marriage.

If you don't vote then you have no businness commenting on the election.

yep... now he will evolve backwards...

Looks good now, but there's a ways to go yet until November.

But Romney has my vote. Hopefully he'll be able to turn this stinking economy around before the US goes belly up.

I get gallop...rasmussen and a couple of other polsters emailed to me daily...of late obamas numbers have been slipping...
