The Libertarian Party is having it's convention as I post this, and I believe that Gary Johnson will be the nominee. The LP has never drawn much more than 1 percent during an election, but that could all change this year.

1) For Conservatives, here is a candidate who really IS for limited government and the Constitution.

2) For Liberals, here is a candidate who would shut down spying on Americans, and IS for limitations on the government taking away your Constitutional rights.

I am guessing that Johnson will get somewhere between 3 and 6 percent of the vote this November, and will drain votes from both Republicans and Democrats, which are the status quo for everything that is unAmerican. Yea, I know - 3-6 percent is nothing, compared to how many votes Romney and Obama are going to get. But you know something? These are GOOD votes, if you want to vote your conscience and not allow talking heads of the major parties to do your thinking for you. And 3-6 percent might not be much, but it's a small step in the right direction. Small steps, folks.

If Johnson is nominated, I will again vote Libertarian. **** the Republicans. **** the Democrats. I want REAL change.

I've given consideration to Gary Johnson. I am not very satisfied with Mitt Romney or Barack Obama.

Gary will have my vote if he wins the nomination.

some of the other LP candidates don't cut the mustard for me.. but Gary is alright in my book

he's had my vote

What type of libertarian is he?

Ron Paul-esque... without the gold standard fixation.
on social issues, he a notch or 2 to the left of Paul... about the same on fiscal matters

he has a lot of executive experience to gauge off of... just check out New Mexico under his governorship.

if you are fiscally liberal, you won't like him

he's had my vote
.. he didn't have mine when he was running on the GOP ticket... but he's grown on me... and he has experience.

with contenders for the LP nomination like Jim Burns and Bill Stills, i thought i was gonna be SOL this election.

R. Lee Wrights lives about 6 miles from me.. and he a pretty good guy...I've met him 3 times before at Libertarian functions, and he's a bit quirky to me, but a good guy nonetheless.

I will not vote for the Dem or the Rep candidate. I have said I would write in my own name... I may vote for Johnson however, as I feel it is a bigger protest vote than writing in my own name. Even so, he has as much of a chance of winning as I do...

My number one beef with Libertarian candidates: I do not believe the "Fair Tax" is a viable option for our country.

He will certainly pull more from Romney than he will from Obama. Can you say "Nader of the Right"?

I'll vote for Gary Johnson if he becomes the LP candidate. I've followed him since the beginning. The man makes sense.

I will vote for Governor Johnson in November. I refuse to vote for Obama or Romney. Choosing between two piles of crap in bowl instead of flushing them both is idiotic.

I hadn't taken a serious look at him. Just browsed through his bio. He is what the Libertarian party has been lacking. The core principles of the party intact and a common sense approach to the changes that need to be made. looks like I have found the guy I will be voting for, should he win the nom.

This guy is ugly, but I would vote for him over Obama and Romney. I like what he did for the state of New Mexico.

I don't think so.....He leans left on a lot of issues like legalizing Pot and Gay Marriage......I think a lot of Libs would vote for him.......

That might not be enough. Obama's opinion on gay marriage has been more so 'for', so that would sit well with plenty of liberals. And while many support the legalization of mairijuana, that's no that high on the issues list.

It depends on what issues are most important to the voter.
In this election, the social issues take a back seat to fiscal issues to many voters.
