The poor guy, he doesn't know when to keep his mouth shut, hes an elist.

When Mitt Romney joined some Bethel Park,Pennsylvania, residents around a picnic table on April 17, the conversation was supposed to be focus on rising gasoline prices, falling home value, and other economic anxieties that make up the central theme of his presidential campaign. But after sitting down at a table covered with cookies, chip, and lemonade, Romney focused on the snacks.“I’m not sure about these cookies,” he said, referring to a brightly colored plate of five dozen lady locks, thumbprints and other delicacies made by a beloved local bakery.“They don’t look like you made them,” the candidate said. “No, no. They came from the local 7-11, bakery, or whatever.” [...]

I am horrified that Romney didn't show proper appreciation for a snack. This could seriously impact his role in office when he has to make a presidential declaration about the status of cookies in the nation. There are many things wrong with both candidates that are actually import policy choices, its absurd to go off on trivial nonsense like this.

The Obama campaign will probably make a commercial about Romney and Bain Capital.

The Obama campaign will probably make a commercial regarding the "Etch A Sketch" comment.

I really doubt they will make any comments about Romney eating cookies in Pennsylvania.

completely irrelevant.

a presidential campaign should be about issues.

Being able to relate to "non millionaires" and showing appreciation to people who are extending their hospitality during a presidential campaign are totally relevant issues!

Romney was provided with an opportunity to demonstrate his so-called "people skills" - and he blew it which further reinforces the perception that he can't relate to 99% of the electorate!

Stop affixing "-gate" to ****ing everything.

Do I have to start hitting people?

i'm more concerned about his hawkish language on global issues than i am about his cookie snobbery. my point is that this "gaffe a day" fluff accomplishes nothing.

The "cookie-gate" is in the media's narrative of the encounter, it's not mine. Just Google "cookie-gate" and you will see.

Seems like a non relevant issue from a bunch of non relevant people in a non relevant setting. When your every word is analyzed on national TV, you are bound to make mistakes.

But I do have a question. Are these cookies available in all 57 states?

He thinks 7-11 stores have bakeries?

"Welcome to the debate, I'm your moderator, Brian Williams. Gov. Romney, what's your opinion of the snacks in the green room?"

I would never vote for a man who can't properly identify baked goods.

this is making me want a cookie.

BushI took quite a few hits for appearing to be a man out of touch with middle class America. It isn't that Willard can't blind taste test baked goods, it is he has no sense of rapport with regular folks. It just adds another layer, no more no less.

They do... moron...

But, he actually said "7-11, bakery, or wherever..."

and can ya fault the guy... he was right... they weren't homemade... they were from a bakery...

So, now Mitt Romney has increased sales for Etch-A-Sketch, and some podunk bakery store... yay...

If Mitt were elected president, allowing him to attend state dinners in his honor would become a foreign policy nightmare - his "cookie comments" would offend the leader of every nation who hosted one."

To Chinese premier: "These aren't real egg rolls. Where's you get these, the frozen food section? Chung King, right?"

Not only that, but local bakeries supply 7-11 with baked goods. Plus, the owner made it quite clear in the initial interview that he knew the comment was in jest, and that he was planning on making the best of it.

Kudos to all involved.

Then he would squeeze Merkel's tits: "These aren't real, are they? You've been spending too much time Hollywood. Ho ho ho."

Better that Mitt Romney stayed in the "doghouse" on top of his car and his dog was offered the cookies.

The dog may not have 2 degrees from Harvard and think that its capable of being president - but a least it knows how to be appreciative and not "bite" the hand that feeds it!
