Sen. Marco Rubio of Florida, widely speculated to be a top pick for the Republican presidential running mate, once again firmly denied he would join the GOP ticket. "I'm not going to be the vice president," Rubio said Friday in an interview with CNN en Español's Ismael Cala. "I'm not."

If there is any hedging or qualification to that statement, I'm not seeing it. And this is at least the second time Rubio has issued a flat denial that he would be on the ticket. Granted, minds can be changed with enough pressure from the political establishment, but it sounds like he's truly not interested in the job. What do you guys think? Is this the standard coyness that always precedes the running mate selection, or is Romney actually going to have to find someone else?

Well, he didn't actually say he wasn't going run . . . he said he wasn't going to be the Vice President. And even if he does run, he's probably right about that.

I like Rubio.. and I would vote for him, but running as VP would be a terrible career move considering the parade of buffoons the GOP has offered up this election cycle.

The Presidential trail is brutal. You have to want it in the places in your belly that keep you going through exhaustion and hoarseness and pressure while missing your family. If you don't want it... you won't be an effective campaigner.

Rubio is out.

Wise move... being associated with Romney on a failed presidential run is a bad move for a future presidential run of his own.

Exactly.. I hope he will stay away from Palin and Bachman.. and run in 2016.

What are the potential VP candidates supposed to say when asked if they are asked by the media about joining the ticket in the VP slot?

Don't be surprised if one of the politicians who said no to the media ends up saying yes when asked by Romney.

LMAO. That was funny. :)

You mean a flip flopper? Say it isn't so.
