Forbes to Newsmax: An Obama Win Will Lead to New Recession

We haven't come out of the current recession. Obama wants it that way - wants America to suffer and depend on govt.

I didn't get that one... gotcha politics of minor misstatements gets no one anywhere... I was just pointing out to you the fact that you do it, too... So going forward, no one gets hung up on the minutiae

But, the POINT does not stand... There was a total different economy back then... Clinton was inheriting the debt, but not a bad economy... He was being charged with balancing the budget, not fixing the economy... To raise taxes now, in a bad economy would be disastrous... Clinton was also aided by two prior balance the budget acts in 90 and 91 which covered limiting spending... So on that side everything was trending towards balance... Also, when Clinton raised taxes in 93... the economy wasn't in boom mode, that came later... so by that point people had adjusted to the taxes, and also had higher salaries to afford to pay the taxes... No one is saying if Obama were to raise taxes in 1993 that we'd be destined for recession... Everyone is talking about right now...
Clinton did not inherit a bad economy? Really? We were still in the midst of a housing bubble (minor by today's standards), we still had an overhang of record debt from the Reagan dynasty....and correct me if I'm wrong...but wasn't the catch phrase: "It's the economy, stupid" ?

Again, the taxes increased in 92, not 93, at that point we were recovering from a recession, so again, this idea that raising taxes causes a recession is just false.

If you were a Harvard history student, you would not be getting so many basic facts incorrect.

You mean like all that money the government took from the pockets of the taxpayers and redistributed to the banksters? Yup, I agree with you.

exactly, but find where I supported that

guess which candidate those big wall street bankers supported in 08

You crack me up. Slippery slope is a logical fallacy.

depends on the issue. the founder of the modern Gun ban movement-Pete Shields-was very much a proponent of the incremental slide towards banning weapons.

Yea Obama "demonizes" the rich so much that they throw money left and right at him, he bails them out, and gives them tax breaks! Sounds like one big socialist to me! :lamo

you fail to understand that there are those who are rich despite a large centralized government and those who are rich because of it

Again... Europe and America are different... For one, Europe has high tax rates on both corporate and personal income, then add the vat... so when a government is taking that much money from the people, and then turns and cuts services, the people revolt... that's what's happening in Europe... Not only is it so far different from America... but it's also just plain bogus to compare Europe and America in general...

(besides, you quoted Ireland as being in trouble, but Ireland has $200B in debt, which is only 60% of GDP... the US has $16T in debt, which is over 100% of our GDP... If Im betting on which of those economies recover, it'd be the Irish economy, on the back of their low corporate tax rate...)

Again... you still miss the point...

Europe + America = Different places...

Therefore

What works / doesn’t work in Europe ≠ What works / doesn’t work in America...

Look, for example…

So, now that we have that established… next time you try to tell me about what’s going on in European politics, and how it’s relevant to what is going on in the USA, make sure to check your European Man Purse at the door…
Politics....soda....cars...WTF?

Is that what I was talking about?

No, Mr. "Harvard"

"It's the economy, (you know the rest)."

We are talking macro effects, when you have a down economy, the last thing you want to do is to remove a large segment of economic activity (govt spending) when private spending has also been reduced. The combo causes a dramatic reduction in economic activity, multiplying the effect.

Here is Ireland:

Picture that, Mr "Harvard".

Too bad that has nothing to do with this case.

It was merely to prove that your silly generalization is without merit

If Ubama wins re election it will herald the end of the Republic...we're almost there now.

How come the Republic hasn't ended already?

:lamoYep if Obama wins we are going to hit another recession, because that is what Obama does creates recessions.... The ol scare tactic.. Gotta love it... These republicans are ****ing toast...

Thats what the conservative media / propaganda pushers do best! They scare people and try and make one American hate the other

I guess I'll repeat from another thread. Why can't people simply just disagree with his policies rather than make such ludicrous statements?

What is even more amusing is that so many die hard Republicans hate Obama....despite the fact that he's little more then a Bush clone. We're in the 3rd presidential term of Dubya. It's just that he looks black and has a D after his name. It's amusing watching so many people who outright refuse to say anything bad about Republicans come down on a President who is functionally the same as the previous one they so admired.

Move over Donald Trump, you've got company!!!

It's interesting that some on the right spend so much time claiming that the right isn't racist, yet KKKers tend to be the rights biggest cheerleaders.

See how ****ing stupid that kind of thing sounds?
I think there's validity to both points. Each side has its own set of wackos.
