Running low on cash and falling further behind in the delegate count, Republican presidential hopeful Newt Gingrich will slash about a third of his campaign staff in an effort to stay in the race for as long as possible. Gingrich staffers confirmed to ABC News that the former House speaker had shaken up the top tiers of his staff, including replacing campaign manager Michael Krull with Vince Haley, a longtime Gingrich advisor.

Gingrich is not stupid. He knows he cannot win. He knows that he can only hurt the one most ideologically close to him still in the race. So why stay in?

Exactly. Gingrich is going to soak up as much free publicity as he can get before he goes back to his lucrative influence peddling and personal appearance jobs. Thanks, Mr. Adelson.

Because he won't get to be on TV anymore and will fade into the irrelevancy of failure. What's more amazing is that people are still flushing money for this guy. I guess it doesn't matter much when you're a 78 year old billionaire.
 
Gingrich knows he's not going to win. He's staying in for attention and also the chance for him to be a major influence at the convention; influence isn't going to happen, imo, no matter how long he makes his campaign last.

Remember, there is no Newt Gingrich as a politician. He is part of the Sheldon Adelson Empire (16th wealthiest man in the world) ..... I think we've had an invented Newt Gingrich ..... he had a chance to go many places, and for a variety of political reasons has sustained this campaign against Romney/Santorum/Paul now since the spring of 2011, and its tragic!
