True...I suppose my feeling sorry for the GOP comes from trying to figure out how even Hollywood could make one of those guys look good...let alone for 15 minutes.

Is it just a coincidence that a popular book in the 1930s about the Fabian Socialist Agenda was called The Road We're Traveling?

.....Yup......

The road [something] travelled is a common metaphor in our society in terms of a journey or a theme in history. Thus its commonly used in literature.

I wouldn't read anything into it beyond that.

Yeah, if I were making a commercial for a product....Guaranteed I would also cherry pick the good stuff.

"Buy Viagra and you might get an erection that hurts like hell for several hours, get high blood pressure, swelling in bad places, and end up having a Dr. slice into your manhood..."

Somehow, I doubt that would help sales.

I offered no value judgement. I do however like fact checking. Fact checking alone does not make a commercial good nor bad.

I completely agree...Mostly I started this thread because of all the hype surrounding the documentary, and it seemed no one had mentioned it. I also found it to be very well done, and wanted to get opinions from others.

The Road We've Traveled

Check out this little propaganda piece

Remember how far we've come. From Academy Award®-winning director Davis Guggenheim: "The Road We've Traveled".

This film gives an inside look at some of the tough calls President Obama made to get our country back on track. Featuring interviews from President Bill Clinton, Mayor Rahm Emanuel, Elizabeth Warren, David Axelrod, Austan Goolsbee, and more. It's a film everyone should see.

The road we have traveled recently is one of fascism and oppression. Government doing what it's best at.

Calling this a documentary is a farce. Commercial is indeed much better suited.

The way the media acts around Obama disturbs me. Making a "documentary" about his presidency while he's still president is only the tip of that iceberg.

Yeah, I think so too. There's also a wonderful poem called "The Road Less Traveled". Good one.

I think you mean The Road Not Taken by Robert Frost. Many have morphed this poem into something it isn't; the road less traveled. It's not about the narrator saying to take the less traveled road and blaze your own trail in life, as both roads in the poem are equally well traveled. It's about the narrator saying he will take one of the well traveled roads and be back another day to travel the other, but really understanding he never will. The poem is partially about the fear of making wrong choices or decisions in life. In reality the narrator never takes either path as revealed in the fourth stanza.

I shall be telling this with a sigh

Somewhere ages and ages hence:

Two roads diverged in a wood, and I—

I took the one less traveled by,

And that has made all the difference.

He hasn't taken any road because he can't make a decision. The first line of the fourth stanza states, "I will be telling this." He's saying that in ages and ages (many years) to come that he will be able to state that he took the road less traveled.

One of the main themes of the poem is about the road not taken, and not the road less traveled.

I don't think that's what Obama's "The Road we've traveled" implies. Just sayin...

The media that made the film was the Obama re-election campaign....

Obama taps Tom Hanks for campaign video

I couldn't find another thread on this new campaign video, if there is I ask that mod merge them together. Thank you!

"Interviews, news footage and still photos are linked by Hanks’s dramatic narration.

Not since the days of Franklin Roosevelt had so much fallen on the shoulders of one president,” Hanks says as the film transitions into the administration’s responses.

The campaign said it’s holding 300 screenings at homes and at openings of offices and will be followed by a broadcast on the web with chief political strategist David Axelrod. The film was released ahead of time to the media."

Obama taps Tom Hanks for campaign video - The Washington Post

I think this is one of the better campaign ads I've ever seen!

Re: Obama taps Tom Hanks for campaign video

Looks great!

Up to now, the president has not done a good job at getting the the word out about all of the accomplishments he has made in the first 3 years, especially with so much going down the toilet when he came into office. I think this presentation goes a long way in making the point.

Re: Obama taps Tom Hanks for campaign video

His task is to frame his presidency in context of all the hardships in his term, which is done awesomely in this video.

Very broad and appealing message.

Great vid!!!

Re: Obama taps Tom Hanks for campaign video

For a campaign ad, I think it was pretty good. What would be pretty nice is if they extended it to a few 10-15 minute videos on each core area that he highlighted, or other areas he did not.

Of course, I thought the campaign video was rather loose with a great many things, but it's a campaign video. What else would one expect from the Democratic President of the United States running for reelection?
