Probably about 10-15% of them. That's all. Just the ones who are actually in that position by no fault of their own and who are working to get out of that situation. The rest get to rot in the bed they've made for themselves.
We have too many programs for the poor. Though you are partially right... it's the lower middle class and lower classes who believe they are entitled to something for nothing that are the primary problem.
my parents raised 6 children, 2 have done well, 2 have done average, 2 are on the govt. teat.....the last 2, the slow 2, did poorly in school and had attitude problems as well. I am one of the 2 who have done well, had attitude problems in high school, but got over it and learned a good trade in Navy schools.
Of the 2 who are on the govt. teat, the youngest of us, the baby of the family, is a lazy bum. My parents ruined him. The military trained him in welding, but he won't move to where the jobs are. The other one, a sister, can't be trusted around cash, and has lost jobs because of it. Those 2 made their own beds, except for the being "slow" part. They still have their attitudes, they still expect others to take care of them.....
It is their attitude more than their lack of aptitude that is the problem. I know retarded people who have jobs and are self supporting, so my siblings have no excuse.
BUT, we still have a class of people in the USA who think that they are favored by God to be rich, and selfish, and greedy.....
At least twice I have quit jobs because I was doing work beyond my pay, compared to coworkers, but could not get a raise or promotion. I have never had trouble finding someone else to hire me until I got old, late 50's....so those employers who want top level work but don't want to pay for it, they are also members of an "entitlement" class....
