How about talkin' a little football to show what a regular Joe you are, Mitt? Crack open a few beers, pass the chips, shoot the bull about the ol' pigsk ... DOH!!! :lamo

"Well, you know I’m surprised to hear that Denver’s thinking about [Payton], they’re -- I don’t want him in our neck of the woods to Miami or to the Jets," Romney said. "But I’ve got a lot of good friends, the owner Miami Dolphins, and the New York Jets — both owners are friends of mine. But let’s keep him away from New England, so Tom Brady has a better chance of picking up a championship."

He can be friends with the owners of the other teams and still root for the Pats. I actively root against the Packers and Bears and Vikings (Lions fan here) but I am still friends with fans of those teams.

Big deal. I live in an apartment that is on the second floor of a bank. My ass sets over 50 billion dollars.

You bolded the wrong part.

What kind of sick depraved man would want Tom Brady to win a championship?

Mittens went to Daytona before the NA$CAR race to connect with the common man.....

Romney was at Daytona last year and said he also has been to the track in New Hampshire. Does he follow the sport?
"Not as closely as some of the most ardent fans,'' he said. "But I have some friends who are NASCAR team owners.''

So what? I'm really good friends with a guy who is worth almost a billion dollars. What does that say about me? Not much. I still drive a scooter to work.

Because he is from and in a different world and doesn't know anything else? Which is why I am hesitant that he would be a good president that represents the majority of americans.
My girlfriend is like that. She grew up in Hollywood. Pal'd around with celebs. Was raised in a house that is the size of 4 of my neighbors house..maybe bigger. Lacked for nothing. Only ran around with other stars kids as she grew up. Even babysat Lisa Marie Presley once in awhile because they were neighbors. Her aunt is very famous, her father an attorney for the biggest names in hollywood. When she would come visit with me, she would drink one sip of a soda, let it sit, go to the fridge and get another one because the first one got cold. She had/has no clue what anything costs because it was all handed to her on a platter.

Mitt is in the same world. He has no clue.

Come on now, don't be obtuse. Everyone knows that Romney's got a problem connecting with middle class and lower income voters. It doesn't help that he's constantly running around blurting out how he's pals with all these billionaires. It's like he's got Richie Rich Turrets.

Is it a bad thing to show you have connections in high places?

There's a reason people envy celebrities, you know.

I don't envy them at all. Eyeballs on ya all the time? People yapping about ya all the time? Thanks, but no thanks.

Holy ****! Romney knows rich people! Crucify the bastard!

Seriously, of all the things to care about, this is just retarded....

Personally I could not care less if he knows rich people, but politically it is a big problem for him that he can't shut up about it. If you don't think so you haven't been paying attention. He consistently loses to his rivals in lower and middle income groups, and only makes up the difference in upper-middle and upper income groups. He's not going to be able to do that with the bigger turnout you get in a general election.

No, it is a bad thing when you are trying to show you are connected to the common man and yet you show that you are not.

Are you good buddies with Kerry? Clinton? Obama? You hang out in those 'common' circles much do ya now? You break bread with Obama at those $30k a plate dinners or with Biden at the $10k a plate dinner he just hosted? Did you weekend with the Kennedy's or for that matter, John Edwards? Did you lose your ass gasket when Obama and Hillary both adopted affected southern twangs?

I do not think his problem with lower and middle income people has to do with him saying he knows rich people. In fact, knowing rich people is about the least of his problems.

It isn't his problem with regular folks, but it's a constant reminder of it. I mean, it's bad if you've got a big read zit on the end of your nose, but it doesn't help if you slap a couple big arrows on your forehead and cheeks pointing at it.

Wow I misunderstood this thread. I thought you were talking about him being friends with the Jets and being a fan of the Pats lol.

Now that I see what your point is, I dont see how Romney knowing or being friends with the rich is news. You can drop Romney's name from it. Sub in any major politician. Imagine the headline "Politician Has Rich Friends". Do you really think any of them arent schmoozing up to their rich buddies?

No I don't "hang" with them, but I can relate to someone who grew up in a broken home, made is way up to the highest office in the US....and I think he can (and does) relate much better to a wider spectrum of US class levels. On the other hand, the inability of Romney to relate to "the common man" comes from many different aspects of his life, from his Mormon upbringing (my extended family and friends are Mormon, I have seen the "cultish" aspects of it, the limitations it imposes on experiencing mainstream US life) to his silver spoon education and business life. He doesn't relate well, as we are showing you over and over again.

He relates as well as your pretense of relating to 99.999% of the elected democrats in this country. the only reason this, or income, or tax rates, or any of this non-related bull**** ever comes up is because he is a republican. Or would you have us all believe you were very concerned about this sort of thing wuth all the democrats that run for office? Good ****ing lord...at least be honest.

I have a "pretense" of relating to 99% of Dems? Where did you get that? And I never made a claim to Obama relating to 99% of dems......but over 80% of Dems do approve of him...for what that is worth.

Gee, I gave you multiple reasons I can't relate to Romney on grounds other than his party affiliation...in fact I never mentioned his party.

If it comes down to who I can relate to and who can more than likely relate to me, there is no question that at this point in time (the contest we are talking about) I can relate much better to the President. I make no bones about being a liberal and voting for those who come closer to my ideology, ideology is related to outlook, outlook often comes from life experience.

I slapped together some clips as a prelude to what we're going to see in the fall. :D
