i came across an older picture of the four republican candidates.esq-rick-santorum-brown-shoes-012012-xlg.jpg

to the left i see santorum with a fitted suit but wearing brown cowboy boots,it appears his suit was tailored with the right amount of slack for boots, but he didnt seem to just shell out some money for a pair that actually matched the suit.

next is romney,he looks like hes wearing a brand new suit, and tailored as well.you can tell hes trying to instill in peoples minds that he is confident.

next is gingrich,it looks like he should have tailored his coat 40 lbs ago.also on top of his suit not fitting,im pretty sure his buttons would shoot off if he sat down.

last is ron paul who is wearing a well talored suit but is wearing black grandpa sneakers.this leaves an impression he likes to dress well but doesnt really care what makes him look stupid.

you can tell alot about a person by what they wear.fashion doesnt mean anything but rather how its presented.i almost never wear a suit and im fashion illiterate, and im also a guy so i have 2 strikes against me in the fashion world.but it doesnt take away from my knowledge on presentation.why would all this matter in an election?simple people key into small things like this in the back of their mind.for someone being seen by the whole country attention to detail is important, when you look at someone like gingrich with his coat too small you start to think well if he couldnt even take the time to dress properly, how do we know hell take the time to properly run the highest office in the land.

i hate to say this but if this election can be related to a job interview, romney is the only one in that picture who looks like he wants the job.even though the election isnt about who dresses the best or who speaks with the most confidence, there are many voters where something so unrelated to the issues can sway them.look back at obama in 2008,always well groomed well tailored clean suits always presenting the image that hes there to take charge.i went through this alot in the army, you can be the best at your job, always on time in the right place, but you will always lose to those who have the cleanest uniforms,a proper haircut, the cleanest boots, and a personality that projects they are in charge even when they are not.

I'm going to vote for Anne Hathaway because of her nude scene in Love & Other Drugs.

roflmao about the Gingrich 40lbs. ago tailoring.... Santorum, from Pa, wearing cowboy boots.... Romney, Mr perfect in presentation. Empty suit... Paul, he's old and probably has arthritic feet so he needs the sneakers. At least they matched. Ya know he is really too old when he starts wearing the white ones with the black pants, or black shorts and black socks with the white ones.

Interesting. Thanks.

I'll have to buy me a sweater vest.

dont think yall got the point,it was not about fashion it was about presentation.its like when you apply for a job,if you cant even present yourself properly or take the time to properly dress yourself, the interviewer is gonna think your too lazy for the job.

"properly dress yourself' is a bit subjective.

I like Paul's attire because he has the require amount if pomp and circumstance( suit and tie).. with a bit of pragmatism( comfy shoes)

gingrich's attire , to me , just says "disgusting fatbody".. nothing more, nothing less

Romney's says " what do I have to do to get you to take this lovely 1983 buick regal home with you today?"

and Santorum... well.. anyone who doesn't live or work on a ranch or farm shouldn't be in cowboy boots

I have to admire your post,Thrilla. That pretty much descibes the Republican slate.:2wave:

Agreed. They are being interviewed for a job every debate. I am surprised only one did well in this area.

... if this thread made any sense, Obama would be the best president in the history of the US. Seriously, that brother can rock a suit. Look at this fine mother****er:

Sharp dressing doesn't guarantee anything, but it helps make a good impression. I have been to a few Transition Assistance Programs to help military transition to the civilian jobs and they emphasize that how you dress is a big deal at the interview. And there are a hundred books on job interviewing at your local book store that say the same thing. I have bought at least one of those books.

Romney's a better looking man than Obama. I wonder if that will have any relevance in the election. Some pundits claimed that Clinton's success in 92 and 96 was based on the claim that many women voted for the candidate they found more sexually desirable. And that was before Bob Dole started on his Viagra advocacy

Very interesting post and actually filled with some individual insight and thought beyond regurgitating a talking point, mindlessly blasting candidates, or uttering the same banter. Its always refreshing to see new and out of the box ideas formulated into threads.

One of the things that jumped out to me was Ron Paul’s tie. You always seem to see the somewhat flat red “Power tie” or Blue “professional” type of ties at these kind of things and not much in between. The fact that Paul has a striped tie with various colors really jumped out at me and was a seeming wonderful representation of the stark contrast between him and the others on the stage (and the average politician in general).

I don't know why people would want a different suit from other politicians. If one's going to get elected, one should wear a normal politician so that one shouldn't let up the voter's expectations when he/she gets into office. It'll only hurt their re-election chances
