Today is super tuesday, last chance saloon for Gingrich but also for Santorum.

If Romney wins big today than Gingrich should stop his campaign to make sure that Romney does not need to spend money he could save up for his campaign against Obama.

The same goes for Santorum, if there is no probable chance that Santorum could get enough support behind him to actually win the nomination, than he too should stop going for broke and stop pestering Romney. He should just accept that he has lost and he should start endorsing Romney because he needs support if he wants to win big with the evangelicals and the tea-party folks.

To win this election (which I personally hope does not happen) Romney needs to start laying the groundwork for a succesfull presidential campaign and he should stop being attacked by his own fellow-republicans because it will not help in the long run.

Why do I have the feeling the results will be totally unexpected? :(

LOL ok, I had to reply with the one made for me :)

I know, I just had to put it in there. I always try to make my polls informative and a bit funny too.

The best scenario for Romney would be for Santorum and Gingrich to drop out. The worst scenario would be Gingrich dropping out and Santorum staying in, which would throw all the notRomney/Paul support to Santorum. My guess is that they will all stay in.

If Romney wins big tonight. I voted Gingrich and Santorum should both pull out of their current campaigns. That said I don't like any of the three. My question is what happens with Paul? Does he end up with the non Romney votes? Or does everyone rally behind Romney? Will this keep all non Romney conservatives at home? At this point I am at the hold my nose and vote Romney stage but still up in the air.

Neither Gingrich or Santorum have a chance of winning the nomination, let alone the Presidency.

All they are doing is collecting money and branding themselves. They will make millions doing this and their names will be household words that assure them of $30K speaking fees, books and general ass kissing by the public at large. They are "as clever as a Politician" and could care less about anything but their own fame and fortune.

Romney has a slight chance of winning against Obama but these other 2 have torn him down so much in pursuit of their own agendas that Romney's electability declines with every negative ad.

(OPINION ALERT)

Branding themselves? Santorum perhaps, but definitely not Gingrich. He's been around town, that one...

as i stated in another thread, i think Gingrich will be the first to drop out.

when he does it, though, might depend on how much he truly dislikes Mitt Romney.

scenario : Gingrich takes Georgia, and Santorum takes Ohio, slowing Romney's momentum. Gingrich then drops out to allow Santorum most of the notRomney vote just out of spite.

that would be somewhat interesting, if unlikely.

I did not believe it would happen but Santorum actually passed the bar last night. He won a couple of states and performed way above his "campaign fund grade" compared to Romney. It seems even with all his money, his campaign adds, his super-pacs millions, Romney is still only barely able to defeat Santorum in Ohio.

This gives some hope to Santorum, Santorum must now hope that Gingrich is indeed going to chuck in the towel and that he will get the Gingrich vote in his battle with Romney.

If by some miracle Santorum get's some big cash between now and the next big states he might actually have the chance to defeat Romney on a much regular basis.

I don't know. I hope they keep slugging it out with each other as long as possible though. Not only is it hilarious, it's also beneficial to voters.

Right now, what Santorum needs more than anything in Gingrich to drop out. If Gingrich drops out soon, Romney could have real trouble. The longer Gingrich stays in, the easier it is for Romney.

Gingrich spent Super Tuesday in Huntsville, Alabama, promising another lunar base. :( He's not dropping out, meaning that we will have a "nominee" who can't win more than a plurality in any of the swing states. Not a good way to go.
