After Tuesday Nights' Wins, Santorums Poll Numbers Double

Don't forget this gem that all the Reagan worshipers have forgotten...

Something about Ronald Reagan that women should be aware of is that as Governor he signed the bill legalizing abortion in the state of California BEFORE the Supreme Court ruled on Roe v. Wade.
linkypoo...

If only during one of the million GOP debates held at the Reagan Library the moderator asked about that so we can watch how fast they wipe off the brown they accrued on their noses lifting Reagan up on that empty pedestal.

Reagan was pro choice. Yet another parallel with Obama.

Anyone notice how Santorum's rationale to keep women out of the military is exactly the same reason given by fundamentalist Muslims to keep women in burkas?

That's funny. I love how words get taken out of context and spun. Now opposing females in a frontline combat MOS equates to banning them from the military entirely?

1. can you show us where his position is to keep women out of the military?

2. and how it is exactly this same reason as fundamentalist musolims keep women in burkas?

I'll wait, thanks.

Moderator's Warning:
Rev, haymarket, knock it off.

What is it about conservatism that makes them want to worship a liberal like Reagan :lamo
Perhaps its the same instinct that keeps liberals from worshiping a liberal like Reagan.

I will have to keep in mind the newly minted liberal status of Reagan the next time someone blames him for all things evil over the past 30 years.

Applying the standards of liberalism from the year 1781 to an American president some 200 years later in a completely different time and world, hardly makes him a liberal.

Rick Santorum said:
“Men have emotions when you see a woman in harm’s way, [they have a] natural inclination to not focus on the mission but to try to be in a position where you might want to protect someone.”

“I do have concerns about women in frontline combat. … I think that can be a very compromising situation, where people naturally may do things that may not be in the interests of the mission because of other types of emotions that are involved."

"It already happens, of course, with the camaraderie of men in combat, but I think it would be even more unique if women were in combat, and I think that's probably not in the best interest of men, women or the mission."

Santorum is saying that the presence of women magically induces men to act irrationally, and that the men are not to blame for this. So the women must be kept away.

Quran 33:58–59 said:
Those who harass believing men and believing women undeservedly, bear (on themselves) a calumny and a grievous sin. O Prophet! Enjoin your wives, your daughters, and the wives of true believers that they should cast their outer garments over their persons (when abroad): That is most convenient, that they may be distinguished and not be harassed.

That quote is often used by fundamentalist Muslims to say that women must be covered up because if they look sexually appealing, then men will naturally rape them, and so it falls to the women to not inflame the random men they encounter.

The underlying assumptions are the same. Women's mere presence creates strife, and men are not responsible for their own actions when their emotions are aroused by women.

Lastly, keep your eye on the ball, guys. However much he wants to restrict women and demean them, whether it's a little or a lot, that's still what he's doing. Santorum is not only suggesting that women are unfit for combat (though he won't come out and say it), but he is using the same rationale that the Taliban uses in regard to women.

Yeah, he wasn't the sharpest knife in the drawer, was he?

well, his problem was that he was a fundamentally honest man, negotiating with a fundamentally dishonest set.

So it wasn't "not in the military" as you claimed, but not in combat. There are numerous reasons women are not the best equipped for combat. And if you don't think Men act differently around women, you don't get out much my friend. ;)

Ahem, if you know your history, you would recall that 1) Reagan was tricked. 2) He slowly became pro-life. 3) You're a liberal who wants to make conservatives hate Reagan.

Well, what is it? Was he "tricked" or was he pro-choice who "slowly became pro-life"?

My point is he wasn't strong enough in his pro-life convictions that he was able to be tricked. ;)

He was tricked, of course, just as he was tricked into supporting amnesty, the growth of government, and deficit spending. He was actually against all of those things, of course, and anything else that turned out badly in retrospect.
