Question to Romney Supporters

It's not government run in the same way European universal healthcare is. However, what you have is a framework of mandates, fees, and regulations that eliminates the free market functioning of the healthcare system and imposes a level of government involvement that Americans simply aren't used to.

Another point that would be of interest to Republicans is that the Romney plan is nearly identical to Obamacare in its basic demands, principles, and infringement on freedoms.

Santorum's plan is pretty clear-cut. Eliminate Obamacare.

That's actually a really heart-warming link, whatever your political views are. It's nice to know that, if nothing else, some of the candidates are legitimately good people.

You can't question Mormonism publicly in 2012. Taboo topic. That would be faux pas, and such things are frowned upon in this establishment... otherwise known as the United States of America.

The PC police would be all over that.

Shouldn't they be?

You are making claims without documentation, again.

The key difference for true conservatives between Mass. health care and national health care is that Mass. is a state. Remember Gill's comments?

Santorum is the party of no at it's worse.

Santorum's health care plan does almost nothing about the rapidly rising health care costs in this country.

So far no plan has done anything that has addressed the issue of rapidly rising hc costs. What's worse than Santorums plan that doesn't deal with the rising costs is the obama/romney plan which even further accelerated the rising costs.

You can document this claim? Do people ever document anything any more?

Why would I have to? He has said he will sign legislation granting Obamacare immunity to all states.

Romneycare is up to MA to deal with.

And yet the CBO has said that ObamaCare will reduce deficits by over a hundred billion dollars. And, ridiculously, Republicans killed the public option which was the biggest cost containment feature in the proposed HC legislation.

well, does it even matter if I do? I can put forth docs on how hc has risen even more since Romneybama care but then it will only get disputed for not being their fault....

well thin, since Romneybama care is gunna reduce the deficits, they better git reducin them, cuz right now weez about a trillion in the hole with it, and so far the only ones benefittin from it is big pharma

Yes, that's how it works. You submit proof of your claims, and then, if people have a problem with what you've presented, they make counterarguments.

For example: as of Feb. 2010, Massachusettes wasn't even among the top 15 states with the worst health care inflation. The 15 States Getting Killed By Health Insurance Inflation

Why do they have to defend it? If they want to nominate a liberal to challenge a centrist pragmatist then all the power to them. The question I wanna know is why Obama supporters aren't jumping on the Romney ship. He is probably much further to the left.

ya mean the senate that had a bullet proof 2/3rds majority? damn those rascally republicans, if only they didn't say BOO! lol

Nice to see you branching out, CT, but that is utter nonsense.

Which candidate is more friendly (or if you prefer, less hostile) to business?

The fact is American business is scared ****less of BO so they are waiting him out. Not hiring. Not venturing out. And let's not kid ourselves - this is BO's greatest flaw.

Do you - or any other lib here - really believe Mitt has to prove he is more friendly to business than does BO?

So it's OK that he governed his state as a liberal? Of course not!

That doesn't show one iota of conservative values. There's nothing conservative about government mandated healthcare. There's nothing conservative about appointing liberal judges. There's nothing conservative about raising fees.

Here is the point. The evidence shows that this man's mindset is toward big government solutions. How can any conservative relate to that?

I am not supporting Romney ... however Romneycare was a conservative effort. We have numerous laws mandating we provide healthcare care and there it protecting the rights of citizens to not be enslaved paying for the uninsured.

News Headlines

The private sector created an eye-popping 297,000 jobs from November to December, according a report from ADP that was the highest number the payroll firm has ever reported.

Actually good point! Obama is a centrist pragmatist ... although Romney might be socially liberal, Obama is Romney's intellectual superior. President Obama has actually put country first as opposed to " I can fix the economy because I moved money and uber wealth for some good old boys" by bankrupting companies and eliminating jobs ... the message that Romney is presenting.

Intellectual progressives will not buy into that and that is what sets the two men apart.

Social issues are the minority voters of each party and yet each party tries to define the other based on such nonsense.

A tried and true conservative would most likely be supporting Ron Paul.

1. On what issues is Mitt "socially liberal?"
2. On what issues is Ron Paul a "tried and true" con?

Your either kidding yourself or trying to kid me that BO is the right wing guy here.

It's a little insulting, or a little embarrasing, depending on which is the case.

I never made any statement that BO is right wing.

Romney governed a state and supported issues that were socially considered liberal. I am not knocking him on that point ... my point was that is not enough to draw support from left leaning pragmatists as was suggested in the previous post in which I quoted and replied.

Ron Paul is clearly a right leaning Libertarian and that imo is conservative.

What you mean "we" white girl?

What is up with your "whitegirl" comment?

"We" The United States of America have laws such as EMTALA. Once the uninsured enter that most expensive medical system (acute care) for crisis medical care it cost tax payers billions ... both Romneycare and Obamacare (as idiots like to reference it) ... were efforts to have citizens accept responsibility for healthcare costs by being insured and gave tax breaks to companies providing healthcare insurance.
