Will a Romney win mean a conservative forfeiture

Obviously old people love Obamacare and death panels. I hope Obama personally pulls the lever on the old Florida bastards.

All Americans deserve access to death panels, regardless of age, race, or income. Death panels shouldn't be just for the wealthy.

Very well-written. As a conservative, it looks like a lose-lose to me. Hope went out the window today for a good election outcome.

I am going to focus on my family, my work, friends, shovel snow, watch the Super Bowl, and otherwise go on with my life without getting involved in politics.

I won't be voting in any elections for the next 4 years.

Understandable. One becomes more and more apolitical as you watch most politicians shift away from serving their constituency to serving their special interest and corporate sugar-masters.

It will be interesting if the likely landslide Romney will receive in Utah due to Mormon vote will have a backlash against him in following states.

It'll be interesting to see if there is a conservative backlash against Mormons for voting for Romney like there was against blacks who voted for Obama in large numbers.

The way I and a growing number of people are looking at it, is since the WH will be won by a liberal regardless of party, then we will vote according to principle. Its not a throwaway vote, its a vote that will re-align the party during the next election. I am fine with that if that is what it will take to have a solid conservative choice.

Forest fires serve a purpose. It clears away the old, dead and decaying to make way for new stronger growth.

When liberals thought the DNC was selling out too much, they turned out to vote for Greens en mass. Put a major hurtin' on the Democratic party, and it *had* to start listening to it's voters (there are a lot of them threatening to do it again, now). Of course the party was pissed about it, but that kind of goes without saying. The liberals viewed Gore and Dubya as being much the same, so they voted for neither (I personally voted LP in that one, but my views on economics have changed considerably, so I don't vote LP any more).

If the party thinks people will vote for them even if they don't try to earn those votes, then they won't try.

Hahaha. Okay, that was funny.

If you are asking if some conservatives will stay home on election day if Romney is the nominee, the answer is yes.

if obama wins in a squeaker I blame them.

That's the thing, though. The Democrats tried to blame Dubya's win on Green voters, but it wasn't the Green voters who caused the Democrats to lose. It was the Democrats who caused the Democrats to lose, because they didn't listen to their own supporters. They acted like they owned the liberal vote, when they don't. They have to earn it.

I don't believe that his religious beliefs are something that would affect his presidency adversely, but some folk have huge issues with Mormon theology and their opinion of Joseph Smith is bitterly severe

So, they will not vote for Romney

Something I learned the other day was Joseph Smith was ostensibly given the book of Mormon by aliens. I would like someone to ask Mitt if he believes spacemen inspired his religion.

This will escalate on both sides and will do lasting damage to the GOP

This has always been preciseley my belief. If you don't win, it is your fault. People voted for someone other than you. Should the GOP go on to lose this election, it is their fault for putting up a candidate that for whatever the reason, did not get enough votes to win and during a year when the incumbant is weak. They will have put up the wrong candidate. It will be their fault for disregarding their own base of support.

Very few will stay home and if obama wins in a squeaker I blame them.

I hope you do blame those of us who are staying home. I really do. Then you at least will know why you lost.

If Romney loses to Obama, I will rub it in the face of every "conservative" who "held their nose" and voted for him. I will taunt people like you.

If your so-called "electable" candidate loses, this is one conservative who will get a great big laugh out of it.

I agree wholeheartedly, Peter. I will not vote for Romney under ANY circumstances. I saw him as Governor of this Communistwealth and it was even more Communist when he left office than when he was sworn in. Romney couldn't find a Conservative social position he agrees with and has ever seriously supported if you gave him a week to do it and a building full of marketing execs to help him spin it. He has absolutely nothing to offer a Conservative, and any of them who choose to support him are slashing their own throats in my mind.

Where's the reverence for Karl Marx on every street corner? Why aren't streets named after Marx, Lenin, and so forth? Where's long block quotes from Das Kapital on the windows of coffee shops? You could say "far too liberal for my tastes," but Communistic?

Talk a walk through Boston sometime, Fiddy. In fact just come out here sometime and spend a bit of time in the Boston AREA. That or just listen to/read the Boston news on a daily basis. It's utterly idiotic and imbecilic. Capitalism, Personal Responsibility, and basic Morals and Values are just plain unheard of in large portions of the Communistwealth of Taxachusetts.

I just wanted to point out where we heard this first.

Because in 6 months, they'll be blaming that kind of rhetoric on Liberals.

Yeah, it's amazing. No private businesses. You just hop on the BolsheMover to downtown and clock in at the Collective, where you get paid to do crossword puzzles and sing union songs all day. Then it's back to the People's Dormitory for potato soup and beets. DO NOT go to Boston!!
