Romney will be the candidate, but I'm not sure who he'll pick for a VP. probably a more conservative person to augment his moderation. Assuming the SCOTUS does not make a ruling on Obamacare before the election (which I doubt it will), Romney will lose by a small margin to Obama in the election. The economy will begin to pick around end of 2012/2013 to the point where unemployment falls to an acceptable level (assuming no catastrophic event in the European economy) and Obama's second term will be defined as a huge success and the Democratic Party will be the favored political party for the next few cycles.

I think the Democrats are in for a good next few years. What say you, you jive turkeys?

Not a bad analysis. I would differ on two points: IF (and that is the biggest word in the English language) we get a viable third party effort from the right in reaction to the Romney nomination, the numbers could be even more wide than in 2008,especially on the electoral college front.

Second, I am not sure about setting up the Democrats for several elections cycles the pendulum seems to swing further faster than ever before in the last six decades.

I do agree with you that Obama will win and the economy will improve over the next couple of years.

But we shall see.

Given what the Republicans have thrown at Romney during the primaries, I think the Democrats will destroy him in any General election campaign. I think Obama wins - not as easily as last time but probably comfortably.

2016 is a long time away and who knows what will happen? Maybe the Republicans will actually nominate a candidate that doesn't have to run as a member of the John Birch Society in order to get the nomination. But probably not.

My prediction is that Romney (if he's the nominee) will pick Jindal as his running mate.

IMO Romney would lose regardless of who he picks for the VP slot.

He won't pick Jindal, Jindal isn't going anywhere, he was just reelected in a landslide in LA.

It would be the Republican version of affirmative action. The ticket would make the Mormons and (Asian) Indians very happy. Got to court the ethnic vote since whites will soon be in the minority.

Jindal would remain governor after the Romney/Jindal ticket loses in November.

I think Romney has said he would pick Rubio, but that might be politics to get the nomination.

I think Obama will win and the Democrats will win back some of the seats in the House, By the way, I don't believe any former president has publicly stated he was pro-life. Romney has, and I think this looms big.

I think we will see a very bad year in the economy, and if Romney is the nominee, it would help a little. However, Romney's Ideas are not far enough from Obama (RomneyCare would hurt him), so he would only lose by a little. If either Gingrich or Santorum become the nominee, they would win by a LANDSLIDE because their ideas are far from Obama's.

This election won't be about debates or campaign ads. It will be about ideas!

I'm independent and I've invested wisely. You might say, I'm well off...

Obama or a *clone* for another 4, 8, 12 years....I'm cool with that

The majority of Americans that do not have, the flexibility, I have will undoubtedly mean greater hardship for them

Do you have any actual evidence that Gingrich would win in a landslide? In my opinion Obama is not nearly unpopular enough to overcome the fifty to sixty percent of people that already don't like Gingrich.

I think Romney will be the nominee and if the economy stays pretty much where it is and the SCOTUS doesn't rule on Obamacare, then Obama will win by 60-100 electoral votes.

Here is what will help Gingrich win:

21st Century Contract With America | Newt Gingrich 2012

my opinion (on the primary) :

repub nominee : Romney

VP nod : probably Rubio.

Well, that is the pitch the Democrats will be making in the election anyway.

I also predict Obama will win, Republicans will keep the House, and the economy will continue to go down.

However, as is happening now, full time employment ending in unemployment but then the person being re-employed in a 20 hour a week, just over minimum wage and no benefits jobs will continue to be defined as "new jobs" and inflation will continue to further downgrade people's income - for which on paper unemployment will be acceptable but by the end of Obama's second term the actual real spending power income of the average American will be 50% of what it was when he first took office. The Democrats will count that as success.

To Democrats, going from $50K a year plus benefits to $14K a year part-time, no benefits but also receiving food stamps with inflation further eroding real income constitutes success. So does Corporate America. And China.

that is only the case if there are enough people who buy the role of the Federal Govt. that Obama is implementing. Not sure what is wrong with you people but the reality is that this country wasn't built on the idea of a massive central govt. providing wealth redistribution and demonizing the private sector and individual wealth creation. I grew up learning the value of hard work, never cared what someone else made or paid in taxes and even strived to become one of those people who created individual success and then shared that expense on their own with others. I never believed in forced redistribution and know that I can spend my money more compassionately than the Federal Govt.

Too many here have a different vision of the role of the Federal Govt. than was even intended. If Obama is re-elected based upon the terrible results he has generated and the direction he has taken this country, it is going to be a disastrous four more years with unsustainable debt, class warfare, and destruction of the private sector economy with more control by the public sector.

The only answer is the election of someone who has private sector experience and shown true leadership. That would be Romney

Do you call the leverage-buyout king "true leadership," Con? Wow!

I don't call what Obama is doing anything close to capitalism and free enterprise, apparently that is what you want and need. The results speak for themselves but of course you ignore the results just like Obama is doing.

Romneycare is a state program, Obamacare is a national program, therein lies the difference. States can do that whereas the Federal govt. cannot. I am a firm believer in states rights and although I don't like Romneycare, the people of MA made their choice and I respect it. Obamacare shouldn't be forced upon anyone without a national referendum

It is going to be Romney as Newt has too much baggage, Santorum and Paul aren't viable so the better alternative between Romney and Obama is Romney

But in MA the healthcare costs are the highest in the country, and my point is, is that it would be very hard for Romney to defend it against Obama.

No question about it but the residents of MA want the program and costs don't seem to matter to them. I have no problem with states implementing a program if the people of the states decide to do so. It remains a states' rights issue not a Federal Mandate. You are more likely to defeat a universal program in your state vs. nationally.

Obama loses. Possibly by a landslide. That's how it's going to go.

Face it, folks...Obama doesn't have anything to run on.

Romneycare? Perhaps you should ask some of our Massachusetts members how they liked it? In an already tax intensive state, I believe that program very nearly broke the back of the MA tax payer.....residents leaving for NH and ME.

Remember, Romney had to do a lot of expalining to the national 2008 primaries
Romney is not the dude to bring unity of effort to the GOP

He did not in 2008 and won't in 2012

Of the remaining candidates he is the best hope to defeat Obama. I will support whoever the candidate is as all are a better alternative but you are wrong regarding Romneycare in MA

Massachusetts Health Care Plan Gets High Marks: Poll

NEW YORK (Reuters) - A large majority of Massachusetts residents are satisfied with the commonwealth's subsidized health plan, which has components similar to the Obama administration's federal plan, according to a poll released on Thursday.

The poll by Market Decisions, a research and consulting group, found that 84 percent of residents are satisfied with the Massachusetts plan, which requires most adults to have health insurance

I think Romney will pick Santorum as his running mate and an outside possibility of a third party run by either Ron Paul, or Newt.:2wave:
