I do not think there was a clear winner. They each had shining moments ... and revealed there is no phenomenal conservative candidate.
what was newt's shining moment?
Paul is probably the most genuine and honest yet I would never vote for him based on two of his issue stances.
curious. what two Ron Paul positions cause you to be unable to support him? (i thought his unemotional, almost indifferent description why his wife would be an excellent first lady revealed a personal weakness on his part)
Romney ... he runs on his expertise on the economy which imho is a false premise (yet on most issues he is quite moderate). He landed a good punch at Gingrich on the PAC where instead of denying the ad he simply turned and said "did you say it?'
didn't romney insist he was not behind an attack ad in which the ad shows romney asserting that ad was placed with his approval?
Gingrich needed a clear win and he did not pull it off (imho) although he made no enormous mistakes. I could be wrong ... if he would win Florida than anything could happen.
gingrich was the only weak performer in that debate in my never humble opinion. when he again tried to play victim to the media/cnn moderator, he was shut down. as was he when he attacked romney. worst performance for newt thus far ... he who wants the moon to be out 51st state. that throw off comment should give any rational voter pause
Santorum ... he is the least qualified of the four and comes off as angry and running on emotional and social issues. he might appeal to an uneducated bible belt demographic yet the GOP knows he would lose the election.
can't stand the guy or his political positions, but where you saw anger i saw someone convincingly destroy romney's ability to contest Obama in the fall, when santorum pointed out the close similarities - especially the mandate - between romneycare and Obamacare
he seemed most sincere when he spoke about why his spouse would make an excellent first lady
i did not see the anger that turned you off
I predict Romney will win the nomination ... the pressing question is ...will Paul run a third party campaign?
would those libertarians who support Ron Paul likely vote instead for Obama or romney ... to me, it will be a wash
If Romney takes the nomination I predict he will lose to Obama.
only if there is videotape of Obama smoking crack while engaging in "indecent" homosexual acts could he possibly lose this election
That might not be so bad for the GOP ...
why would the gop losing be good for that party?
Obama has earned a second term
excuse me; what has Obama done which makes him worthy of a second term?
and the GOP will have a chance to vet and run an intelligent candidate who is worthy in 2016 as opposed to being stuck with a so so candidate they do not really support.
Think ... Obama 2012 than Huntsman 2016.
here is the primary reason for my response
you got it wrong ... Elizabeth Warren will be elected president in 2016
It would be really awesome if eventually independents could get a viable candidate and move us away from the entrenched two party system.
could not agree with you more. there is a certain need for a viable third political party in the USA
