NBC GOP Debate 9pm EST - 9pm PST

Tonight's debate just secured President Obama's re-election. And they have Ron Paul to thank for it.

If you watched tonight's debate until the end, what you saw to close the event was Ron Paul telling the American people that the Republican Party has made a mess of things for a long time and that his party was not ready to govern.

Rick Santorum told America that he and he alone has been the sole warrior for those Conservative principles the Tea Party has been fighting for.

Meanwhile, one minute Newt Gingrinch told America three things: 1) he was a "lobbyist" for Freddie Mac and was paid $1.6 million for given "strategic advice"; 2) he lead the way for most of the young "Tea Party" Conservatives in Congress today; and, 3) that he has been a staunch Republican Conservative from as far back as 1964. But immediately after listening to Mr. Santorum describe his version of true Conservatism, suddenly Mr. Gingrich "agrees" with everything Mr. Santorum said.

And then there's Mitt Romney defending his wealth yet saying to the American People he shouldn't pay higher taxes than middle-class Americans. And what did he say was his tax rate? 15 percent! And what is the tax rate of most middle-class Americans? For most of us it's atleast 25 percent if not more. Oh! Then CNN reporters announce later after the debate that Mr. Romney received income not only from Freddie Mac, but Fannie Mae as well.

There was soooooo much more that was said in that debate that just floored me! But, if people were paying attention, this debate should effectively kill any chance any of these Republican candidates has to winning the White House. Doubt me? Go back and really listen to each candidate's commentary at the end of the debate.

WELCOME TO A SECOND TERM, MR. PRESIDENT OBAMA!!!

I've heard Romney call for an increase in military spending, but other than Paul, I've not heard any suggest cutting spending. Did anyone bring that up that I may have missed?

The only one who would have cut spending was Ron Paul.

Newt supports investing in innovation. If you heard his pitch on NASA, the only way his proposals work, i.e., "awards" for winning contests for ideas on commercial enterprises, would require more federal spending.

Ron Paul would support defending the Florida wetlands. That takes federal dollars since much of it is federally protected.

Mitt Romney supports research for new energy and new technologies.

Haven't paid much attention to Santorum's economic plan.

For all the "cut spending" BS these guys spout, three would still spend federal dollars (although I agree with Ron Paul on protecting the wetlands).

Meh, you liberals are just looking for a reason to masturbate. Go back to 4chon.

President Gingrich is as close to Reagan is we got. But any republican will win against Obama.

So Romney spent the night attacking Newt for getting paychecks from Freddie Mac, and then it comes out that he was making money with Freddie Mac too? lol

I hope Newt blasts him for that. I mean, I saw the look on Newt's face while Romney was attacking him for being a lobbyist and taking making money from government programs... and Newt looked like he was thinking, you SOB, I know you accept money from lobbyist too cause we all do. Don't act like you're above anybody else.

Practically all the attacks I saw Mitt launch on Newt, have all been used on him or could be used on him. I have never seen such a blatant pack of hypocrites.

Romney actually said he would increase spending on the military. I think that will hurt him both with true conservatives and with independents.

If you weren't able to watch the debate earlier, you can watch it here. Pay very close attention to what the candidates say at the end of the debate. It will blow you away!

Romney 900.0 no longer has a healthcare plan, but he does have a plan to disport yourself and wants to ramp up our military because that's what America needs... You can't make this stuff up.

Bachman isn't there.... I can't image anybody's closing statements could top her's

Thanks for the link. I have been watching it, and Romney looks totally desperate in the beginning with all his attacks on Gingrich. He is just going on and on, and talking a mile a minute. I didn't really expect to see it open like that.

Ok, what is a lobbyist?

getting paid $1.6 million to speak in favor of Freddie Mac. The notion that FM's head lobbyist was just really fascinated with WWII history is ludicrous - it's an insult that he expects us to buy that line of BS.

hahaha i second guess myself when i first heard it :-D

I think newt won. He got beat up a lot and even got baited by romney but held his own. I think he will be the nominee.

Romney released last years taxes! The highlights - he's very rich!!!..........$24 million with offshore accounts............investments in Fanny Mae and Freddie MAC..............and he only paid an effective tax rate of 14%.

Not bad for an unemployed guy!!!

Yep. He pays less taxes then me. In fact, I bet he pays less of his income in taxes than the illegals that work on his lawn. That's sad

I wish they had little cartoon bubbles above their heads so that we could see what Newt was thinking when Romney was on the attack.

And yet in a dollars sense probably pays more than most of us pay in taxes in a decade.

Hey look, another person that thinks that Conservatism = Anarchism and "Cut Spending" = "No Spending".

Ron Paul had the general gist of it. There's some significant things right now that are using a huge section of the budget; trying to worry about tons of little stuff while ignoring the big things is like pissing in the wind. Entitlement programs and the Military combined account for 75% of all spending. You've got to do something about those two segments either first or in conjunction with little things like NASA, wilderness protection grants, subsidies, etc. Do those things matter and should they be looked at to find ways to reduce their cost or improve efficiency? Absolutely. However ultimately those are drops in the bucket compared to finding a way to reform and reduce the cost of entitlement sand the military.

How'd you guys like that Gingrich "I'm so angry that you asked that ex-wife question!!!!1!1!!11!!! So I'll take my time to explain how angry I am so that I don't have to actually talk about the ex-wife thing."

What a predictable evasion. Always attacking the mods to control the debate.

Simply because you don't like looking at it that way doesn't make it any less valid than looking at it from a percentage stand point.

Nope its a less valid way of looking at it because mitt romney makes a boatload of money. He shouldn't have a lower effective tax rate than the middle class.
