Gingrich Lacks Moral Character to Be President, Ex-Wife Says

I suppose then, according to you and Dr. Phil, we should be concerned that Obama may be doing lines of cocaine in the Whitehouse in his off time?

That would probably be a legitimate question if Obama had been a heavy coke user well into his 40s and 50s.

Well, he admitted to trying cocaine once, so according to the line of reasoning above, what's to stop him from trying it again? Or, hell, from trying anything for that matter? Past behavior...........right?

Following with this same line of reasoning, perhaps we should also be concerned that Obama may still be consorting with known Communist Revolutionaries, and dare we forget that he once attended a Madrasa......wow, who knows what scary behaviors and beliefs could be resurfacing in the Whitehouse.....right under our noses!

You guys kill me.

Conservatives have a history of sidestepping issues they are unwilling/unable to debate by shifting the topic - all usually based on inflamatory suppositions (cocaine user, consorting with known Communist Revolutionaries, etc.).

If social conservatives were really looking for a candidate who appears "squeeky clean," why aren't they flocking to Santorum?

If Obama had a 2nd wife who accused him of any wrongdoing, "FluffyNinja" would only be too glad to accept that as gospel, BUT when its Newt's 2nd wife - well, its time to change the topic!

How can the GOP bill themselves as the party of "family values" and then support a candidate like Gingrich - a man whose personal life repudiates everything they supposedly stand for?

When one compares Newt Gingrich and Barrack Obama on the issue of "family values" based on actions, not words - its no contest!

Get over yourself already. There are no "squeaky clean" candidates.......and there's not been a "squeaky clean" president, at least in modern history. When will we ever be able to get past this crap and look at things that matter in a candidate, like governmental experience, record of fiscal responsibility, voting record, congressional influence, etc.

BTW, I am obviously a conservative, but can honestly say that I liked Clinton and had no real problem with his qualifications, nor his overall performance as Chief Administrator. Can you drop the gauntlets (and blinders) and say the same about any Conservative leaders from our recent past? Or perhaps, like most on the Left, you simply lack the knowledge-base and rely soley on the drive-by media version of news and history.

the old saw has truth - if someone is willing to cheat on someone else with you, then they will be willing to cheat on you with someone else.

makes you wonder who Gingrich is diddling now.

Dude if you want to run Jesus on the Rep side, you're going to get Obama again. You afraid he'll screw someone on the oval office desk?

Now with the economy improving and the candidates "savaging" each other in the Republican primaries, conservatives like "FluffyNinja" want to declare a truce so that we can "look at things that matter in a candidate, like governmental experience, record of fiscal responsibility, voting record, congressional influence, etc."

Sounds reasonable BUT at the same time they reserve the right to continue accusing Obama of "doing lines of cocaine in the White House in his off time" and "may still be consorting with known Communist Revolutionaries ..."

The problem is that Democrats have become "battle hardened" after being subjected to 3 years of this kind of unrelenting "take no prisoners" political and personal attacks against Barrack Obama.

With the recent actions of the Republicans/Tea Party in the House still fresh in their memories, "liberals" have little reason to trust that their conservative counterparts are genuinely interested in civil discourse.

If conservatives can rationalize supporting a presidential candidate like Newt Gingrich whose personal life contradicts everything they espouse, they can rationalize anything!

That's why Marianne Gingrich's sitting in judgment is so funny. Who's she to judge anybody's morality when she herself is a homewrecker?

who says that I'm taking Marianne's judgement? I'm critiquing Newts judgement.

I don't wonder who Gingrich is diddling now. He says that he is remorseful, has repented, and has changed

Actions > Words

I don't like him (and had an interesting lunch discussion with a friend about whether he's borderline manic-depressive), but he says that he has changed. His children seem to think so.

then he should start demonstrating in public what he has apparently shown them.

Most reasonable person, who had accumulated as much political and personal baggage as Gingrich, would choose not be subject themselves and their families to the kind of intense scrutiny of a gruelling presidential campaign.

Then again, most reasonable people would never acquire Newt's political and personal baggage in the 1st place.

This is why, in the other thread, you can't see the problem with the 1st question. Not only was I right... I was VERY right.

 right about what - that you think the question was out of line and I don't? that you are enamored of critiquing CNN and therefore willing to overlook Gingrich's actions?

Gingrich started as an embarrassing addition to this campaign by giving Democrats the gift of a major Republican critiquing the Ryan Plan. Then he turned into an excellent addition to the campaign by serving in the debates to remind all the other candidates of the things they held in common. Then he started to become popular and so Romney spent alot of money reminding voters that his many marriage infidelities are matched by his many ideological infidelities. Then Newt got pissed, and turned into a nuclear nightmare, giving Democrats the further gift of giving their anti-Republican narrative in 2012 credibility by parroting the OWS crowd rhetoric. No one in the race has better enunciated conservatism. No one in the race has better described what conservatism stands for. And no one in the race has done the conservative cause more damage.

no, i worry we are going to find out he's been cheating on Callista.

Just admit you want payback to Newt for what you see as his moral failings...

Let me know when someone comes forward to say that Obama was still tooting well into his 40's.

- divorced 1st wife as she was being treated for cancer

- divorced 2nd wife just months after she was diagnosed with Multiple Sclerosis

- conducted a 6 year affair with wife 3, while still married to wife 2

- condemned President Bill Clinton for his lack of "moral leadership" during the Lewinsky Affair while in the midst of his 2nd affair

- wanted an "open" marriage - "Callista (wife 3) doesn't care what I do,"

- charged with 84 ethics offenses while serving as Speaker of the House

- sanctioned by a vote of 395–28 in the House and fined $300 000

- 1st Speaker in the Congress to be sanctioned

The question remains as to why a presidential candidate with this kind of personal and political "baggage" is even on the GOP primary ballot and why would anyone endorse him?

Wow. Gingrich scored the endorsements of the Vice Mayor of Bradenton, a former commissioner of Leon County, the guy that played Gopher on the Love Boat, several former Florida legislators and Todd Palin. With the endorsements of this rather impressive-less list of 4th and 5th tier politicians and other people no one ever heard of or cared about, I would say Newt is an unstoppable machine.

Unfortunately, he lacks the moral character and personal integrity to be president, and never will be.

Yes, Newt is human with human imperfections. But I believe he possesses more decency and morals than the entire democrat party combined....

Hey now, I wasn't the one who made the claim that "past behavior is an excellent indicator of future performance"......that came from someone on your side dude.

Ouch that one is gonna hurt his campaign big time but it's pretty much true. The guy preaches morals but was willing to impeach Clinton over his affair while he was doing the same exact thing. What a two face.

Yes but you see hardcore righties don't acknowledge that he's a family values guy...hilarious.

The scariest thing about Obama is not what he did before becoming President but after.....

Me thinks you view the world through your Very Conservative issued rosy glasses.

Sorry, but its a bit disingenuous to suggest that a guy who has been charged with 84 ethics violations (though convicted of one), has two divorces and has conducted at least two affairs outside of his marriage has more decency and morals than, say the guy in the White House, who, at least on paper, has a strong marriage and is a committed family man. Now I can appreciate that you do not like the politics of the Democrats, but don't make such foolish statements as to suggest Newt Gringrich has a moral high ground on all Democrats (or maybe even the moral high ground on anyone not currently serving time.)

Newt Grigrich is, at best, a man of questionable moral character. Though I believe you will find most Americans believe he is a certified slimeball.

Please don't let your moral compass lose its orientation because of your politics.

Well with Obama, you'll be able to march on toward Utopia. With Newt you get to keep your republic a bit longer. Romney is Obama lite. Santorum probably won't make it. Paul I don't know. Anyone but Romney.

Clinton: Blow jobs and sexually molestation in the Oval office, purgery, other charges of sexual harrassment. Bill Clintons problems were punctauted by actually breaking the law and being accused of breaking the law in his sexual behavior. Newt's was part of his personal relationships. As for the ethics violations, notice whenever you see a story about that it only says that 84 ethics violations were filed against Gingrich leaving people to draw their own conclusions of what that means. If you don't like Newt then you believe he was guilty of all of them. But 83 of the 84 charges were dropped including the most serious of the violations. What happened to Gingrich was a political witch hunt of the highest order because of the power and stature he achieved during the '94 Congressional Republican gains and the Contract with American which at that time resonated with a lot of people. All of that had to be destroyed and the Democrats went about it. Gingrich made things easy for them. He is a typical politician so he was no saint by any stretch. Whenever you walk the line along the letter and spirit of the rules there is room for interpretation and accusation. I am not going to defend him point by point because I am sure he didn't strictly walk the straight and narrow. But the so called ethics violations have been mischaracterized and exagerrated. This article from the Washington Post explains some of it: Washingtonpost.com: Ethics Committee Drops Last of 84 Ethics Charges Against Gingrich.

The sick hatred of decency possessing the American extreme-right is exemplified that any of them would chose this poisonous scoundrel against even a dead dog!

Tosh.O could use some of the DP far-righties on his show... 'molestation'... a comment that is beyond idiotic.

And talk about deflection. Newt is the candidate. He's a lowlife turd, not worthy of the office he now seeks. You can't see it. God help you.
