RealClearPolitics - Election 2012 - Iowa Republican Presidential Caucus

Santorum. The most recent poll in Iowa, from Insider Advantage has Romney holding steady, Gingrich climbing again, Santorum surging, and Paul taking a nose dive. With 5 days to go, this poll basically has it too close to call. Very interesting. If Santorum is surging and could pull off a top 3 finish in Iowa, things get interesting. South Carolina is a state he could do very well in.

Not real suprised about Santorum considering he has toured that state more than any other candidate. I'd be more suprised if he wasn't surging in Iowa.

He is also the next logical NotRomney. Bachmann was a complete failure in that role, Perry could not handle the pressure, Cain found out what the vetting process is like, Gingrich has way too many skeletons in the closet and is just not likable(usually), and Paul is bat**** insane. Santorum and Huntsman are all that are left, and Huntsman is campaigning as IsRomney.

Poor Huntsman.

When you are the only sane person in a room full of loons, you simply get ignored.

What this should be screaming at the Republican Party Establishment, is that Mitt Romney is NOT electable if he is their general election candidate. Every time it looks like Romney is gaining traction, there is a significant run AWAY from him, and to whomever might be a possible alternative. Considering the influence of the Tea Party last year, the Republican Party needs to begin to understand that Conservatives in this country are no longer willing to sit idly by and have our viewpoint paid lip service to by the Party. If they want Conservative support they need to find a Conservative candidate, and that's NOT Mitt Romney in any way, shape, manner, or form. For every Independent vote Mitt gets the party will lose 1.5-2 votes from the Conservative base.

God let him flame out like the rest of them. I will take every single Republican potential candidate over Rick Santorum.

Here's to hoping he nose dives quick, as he should.

Is that like me hoping that Mitt Romney's plane engine flames out and takes a nose dive somewhere over the midwest on his way to or from Iowa since there is no way on this Earth that I could ever vote for him?

Thing is, he could be timing it just right.

You're joking, right?

I don't have a sense of humor. I would never do anything to make it happen; but I would not shed a single tear if it were to happen. Politics is much too important to allow things like compassion to cloud one's judgement.

This is a poll of Republican voters and Iowa is way to the right even in that group. It says very little about the general election.

Nobody's asking for compassion. Decency and maturity would be nice, though. I mean, you pretty much wished Romney dead. Not gaining the nomination should be sufficient.

He was the Governor of the Communistwealth I live in. So far as I'm concerned the Moral Crimes he committed while on Beacon Hill are sufficient to wish as many bad things to happen to him as possible.

That's not right. You don't like a candidate, don't vote for him or her. That takes things way too far.

The problem being that I need to find a way to keep everyone else from voting for him too.

We have this odd notion in this country that each person's vote counts the same. Why do you hate America?

Mostly because it's full of Americans.... the most ridiculous, immoral, common sense lacking idiots that humanity has ever known. This is increased exponentially when politics is involved.

Uhggg. If there is one candidate I find more objectionable than Romney its Rick Santorum. I loath Santorum. Its like he's a caricature of everything I despise about busy body social conservatives. Why won't people take another look at Huntsman?

Paul still the same, if not better. If you go with Rasmussen Reports, he climbed +2 while Romney went down -2 from the last RR poll.

Talk about outliers. Paul and Romney are generally five to six points higher in every other recent poll, Gingrich is doing three to four points better than in any other poll and all the other candidates save Huntsman see wide variance over the recent polls with this one at the extremes of the current range.

The Conservative base will vote for NotObama, whoever that may be.

Given the "revolving door" nature of this GOP presidential campaign, all of the "NotRomney" candidates can expect to receive their "15 minutes" of fame, several times over, before the Republican Convention.
