And the Next NotRomney is....

He was not the last conservative, or really even conservative. He was the radical in the conservatives' eyes, and must have needed resistance. Smallness of government wasn't exactly the hallmark of American conservatism in the late 18th and early 19th century. He just happens to have ideas that current conservatives may agree with. The same holds true with Thomas Jefferson, who was, again, not a conservative.
I agree with that.

Not in the slightest. His fondness for mass democracy and agrarianism, and the destruction of the national bank (a pillar of Hamiltonian conservatism) was against what many conservatives stood for (including Daniel Webster), and they were incredibly upset. Your belief is misleading at best.

he exhibited his conservatism in the slaughter and displacement of the Cherokee nation

Another new poll. Look at that graph. Gingrich is nose diving still. Paul is slumping to no one's surprise. Santorum is peaking and fairly quickly. 3 days and we will know.

Paul is slumping because of the newsletter controversy. He is handling it very badly and that is also contributing to his slump. If Paul wants the nation to believe that the opinions expressed in those newsletters are not his, then he needs to come forward, be honest and explain how those things got written with his name of them and just who it was that is responsible for those extremist opinions. And to hang it all on some college intern in cubicle #3 who came in and worked alone on the midnight shift and nobody can really remember much about them is not going to cut it.

Who was in charge of the newsletter production team if not Ron Paul?
Who signed off on the content if not Ron Paul?
Who actually did the writing if not Ron Paul?
Who edited the writing if not Ron Paul?

Paul has done a terrible job at clarifying these questions. If he wants to get the newsletter monkey off his back, we need to know the answers to these questions.

Since when has a conquered people been allowed to not assimilate into society anywhere other than here in the USA? Among the single stupidest things the US Government has ever done. Those people should have been taken and forcibly relocated, one or two at a time into non-Native American populations and forced to assimilate into society. That or slaughter them wholesale.

Seriously? Have you ever cracked a history book? Ever heard of the Roman Empire? The Ottoman Empire? The USSR?

Interesting factoid from CNN. The last poll(which will be the last before the vote) was taken over 5 days. If you only look at the last two days, Romney and Santorum where the only 2 over 20 %, with Paul in third, 24, 21 and 18 % respectively.

Are those states east or west of the Mississippi? ;)

You also realize that in terms of both the Roman Empire and the USSR, that failure to force assimilation is one of the things that eventually lead to their demise, Right? The United States is headed down that same road right now. As we allow more and more sub-groups to exist inside our society, the foundation of that society develops more and more cracks. Cracks that will eventually lead to the undermining of that foundation.

Wrong.

If you consider that a conservative idea, then....well, God bless, and thank Christ I wouldn't be in your classroom, or for that matter, that you don't have a classroom.

Now, riding back to sensibility and hopefully reality, I am under the belief that conservatives will generally ride into a Romney campaign with at least good intentions of rounding the troops against the Democratic party and its figurehead. I understand some won't, but I figure the fire is burned enough in their bellies that they would realize their lack of a vote would neither end the stalemate in the Republican party, nor would suppress the presence of a slightly recharged Obama.

Some of us Conservatives are quickly reaching a point where we believe the membership of BOTH parties needs to be dragged out of office and hung for their crimes against decency and the American people. True Conservatives will never vote for someone like Romney, which will give us another 4 years of Obama. I'm fine with that, as it's about the only thing that might FINALLY get the Republican party moving towards the RIGHT, or at least forment the violent revolution this country so desperately needs.

Somewhere in Eagan, MN, Tim Pawlenty is kicking himself for dropping out before he could be "not Romney."

Mitt Romney is not one of us.

Nope. Never has been and never will be. I can say that with conviction since he was Governor of the Communistwealth that I reside in.
