Republican 3rd Party Candidate

Years left of what?

years left until our looming fiscal trainwreck becomes unavoidable.

There isn't going to be an Apocalypse.

in the sense of all-out nuclear war, probably not. in the sense that we become Greece, that is indeed a possibility. except that there is no one available who can bail us out, which means we will default, which historically has indeed meant war.

As I said, a Romney administration would in many ways be worse. For instance, he would increase the debt more than Obama.

I am the precise opposite of sold on this idea. Romney would at least be generally pro-growth, thus reducing the deficit; and in addition he has now signed onto (and will be forced to run on) entitlement reform.

I get where you are coming from - I had the same argument about McCain. I'm just not sure we can afford more years in the wilderness.

I don't see anything Obama can do that will be severely damaging

with a Republican Congress (not a split one)? probably not. however, when you are racing over a cliff, continuing to at the current pace is indeed severely damaging.

Nominating Romney is not going to prevent it anyway.

that is correct. but neither would the act of nominating anyone else.

It is better to keep Obama. Since Obama is unpopular it will hurt the Democratic movement, and also gives Republican the chance of nominating a much better candidate who can make real change to America in 2016. Also, Romney is a wild card. We do not even know if he is a conservative or if he is sold to big businesses.

we know he's not a conservative. and he knows that we know that. that's the one silver lining (and to be fair, I won't be voting for him, either), conservatives will not trust him and that will give him a very short leash.

and again, whether or not it is better to keep Obama has nothing to do with what you think of Romney, and more to do with whether or not you think that the CBO, the IMF, and everyone else who has looked at our expenditures and debt says - that it's unsustainable. you know what happens when something can't be sustained? It will cease.

Except just like liberal politicians tend to cop out once they get into office, liberal voters tend to cop out on calling out their liberal politicians for doing so.

I don't know. I'm sure that is the case often but Obama has felt more pressure from the left than I'm sure he expected. There is a backlash over here for sure.
