Gingrich, Perry, Bachmann, and the rest of the non-Romney candidates (except Ron Paul) have been denied the right to get on the ballot in Virginia by the Republican establishment in Virginia.

This means Romney will take nearly all of the delegates from Virginia.

This makes it mathematically next to impossible for anyone but Mitt Romney to be the GOP candidate in November.

And in typical sneaky fashion, they do it over Christmas, so that nobody notices.

The GOP establishment has FORCED this candidate down our throats. The way they figured, Romney IS getting on the ticket, your voice/vote be damned. They have done everything in their power to put him on the ticket in spite of the fact that the base doesn't like him, and it looks like they have succeeded.

As a Conservative and a tea partier, this has me fuming mad. Anybody else?

Feel/understand your concern, Peter. The process needs to be fair, not even a hint of a "fix".

do you think that babbling idiot Perry or batwhacked Bachman has any prayer of winning the general election?

The way I heard it, they were so focused on Iowa that they didn't put enough effort into getting the signatures for the ballot in Virginia.

Or at least that's what I heard.

It was THEIR responsibility to get enough votes to be on the ballot in Virginia.... Which leads me to ask, if they are so incompetent with their own campaigns, how do you think they would do as president? Their incompetency in Virginia is pretty telling.

Gingrich really doesn't have a presence in Virginia (probably one of the most important states for the election in 11 months) organized enough to get 12k signatures? I realize he's a relatively recent front-runner, but that just seems completely irresponsible. And we know how much compassion conservatives have for personal irresponsibility, right?

"Denied the right" my ass. They didn't get the requisite number of signatures to get onto the ballot. That's their fault for not focusing their campaign efforts there, not Virginia's fault. Whatever happened to "taking personal responsibility"?

Much like real estate, campaigning for public office comes down to three things: organization, organization, and organization.

I think this only proves that Gingrich and Perry never really took the process of running for the nomination seriously. How quickly we forget that only a few months ago Gingrich was taking vacations when his staff was begging him to stick around and make decisions about his campaign, and quitting en masse as a result of his seemingly careless attitude.

This is just horrible news! What can the future hold when the GOP brain trust is not allowed to be on the ballot in Virginia? This means people will not be able to vote for Bachmman or Santorum. America has been denied the right to vote for "true patriots" and candidate who "aren't afraid to tell it like it is". And Rick Perry not on the ballot? Oh my god, that is a travesty. Perry is a mountain of knowledge, a brilliant American who is almost as smart as George W. Bush.

Republicans are doing this to themselves! Say it isn't so.

:vomit:

My initial response to the above goes alittle like...

So much for conservative voters picking their GOP candidate by watching the debates and Fox News as proclaimed in the book, "Revolt".

But then StillBallin75 and danarhea had to throw a touch of reality into the mix...

Thanks, fellas, for spoiling my fun.

So, because Romney and Paul camps were the only two that followed the Virigina GOP primary rules, it means that the establishment picked them?

1. Do you think that the people of Virginia want to give all their delegate votes to a Massachusetts progressive? Think about that for a second. Newt Gingrich was leading in the polls in that state by a considerable margin. The PEOPLE OF VIRGINIA are getting royally screwed. THEIR VOICE is being ignored outright.

2. I understand that Gingrich submitted 12,000 signatures. 10,000 are required. There must have been a "problem" with a few of them.

3. This reminds me of when I was living in Dade County Florida back in the early 2000's when George W Bush was running against Al Gore. My friends and I actually FOUND A BALLOT BOX full of ballots that had been discarded near the Orange Bowl.

Yeah, voter fraud really happens, I've seen it with my own eyes... and frankly I don't trust the legitimacy of the process. When they say Gingrich and company "didn't have the signatures" I get very very suspicious.

God bless America and God bless democracy. (/sarcasm)

Are you for ****ing real?

I honestly didn't know how to respond to that. The people of Virgina aren't being screwed. They are able to write names in, at least that is what Newt is hoping happens.

Tea bag the establishment before it tea bags you...

His organization quit on him, remember?

BBC's report gives some details: BBC News - Newt Gingrich says Virginia Republican primary "failed"

Something does seem to be amiss. VA is Gingrich's home state.
Mr Krull added: "We will work with the Republican Party of Virginia to pursue an aggressive write-in campaign to make sure that all the voters of Virginia are able to vote for the candidate of their choice."

It remains unclear how Mr Gingrich - a former House of Representatives speaker - intends to do this as Virginia does not allow write-ins in primary ballots.

Actually, in the Virginia primary, write-ins are not allowed, which goes to show you that Newt, who actually brought this point up, is even more incompetent than he appears at first blush. LOL.

Right, I remember seeing somewhere about a hope of being write-ins, but it being Christmas Eve, I didn't really fully read the article.

Hey guy, do you really want candidates who can't get 12,000 signatures to be your Party's nominee, and potentially your President? If their campaigns are that incompetent, they are probably incompetent , too. If this costs Gingrich or Perry or whoever the nomination, then you have been done a favor. These people didn't make it happen in the Virginia primary, and that was the very least they had to do. God forbid it was something more important, after the election, if one of them had won. This shows that someone can sound smart, carry that swagger and look good, but still be a loser.

It seems to me that Gingrich, who is a Virginia resident would know the requirement of his home state.

Do you think that is any excuse for possible misdeeds here?
