For some reason I believe him as far as I can toss my best friend(who weighs 300-400 pounds)

Romney Says He Would Deport Obama's Uncle - ABC News
Republican presidential hopeful Mitt Romney says he would deport President Barack Obama's uncle, who police say was arrested in August for drunk driving near Boston and is an illegal immigrant.

There are many ways to make points about illegal immigration.

But this juvenile **** isn't one of them.

There are times when Mr. Romney will say what he believes others want to hear.

Romney is too chickenship to call BO a socialist but he says he would boot his uncle out of the Country....Romney has the backbone of a squid.

Yet Romney was incapable of answering whether he supported House Republicans or Senate Republican's stance on payroll taxes.

"Gutless wonder" comes to mind.

I don't support Romney but this isn't a tough question to get right. Of course he should say that he would deport him. The question is, if he had an uncle here illegally, would he deport him?

This is the real thing that's going on. Romney's running for President, and saying he'll deport Obama's relatives is great theater for the base.

I thought it was pretty funny personally. Typical political grandstanding. I wonder if these politicians realize that when they say crap like this, we all think they are adolescent at best? Both sides are guilty and I laugh at both of them.

My view applies to everyone - as did Romney's. He didn't bring it up to cue in on Obama's family like he was picking on them. He was just stating his stance which happens to be the same stance I hold.

I support booting out everyone who is here illegally, squating, and then does something to disrupt or interfere with citizen's lives. Being an illegal caught drunk driving is just one step away from getting in an accident and leaving the other member completely liable for 100% of costs and damages. In fact: I think we're fortunate he was caught by an officer before he caused a wreck.

Drinking and driving is definitely on the list of offenses that gets a free ticket home for illegals - regardless of who you are or where you're from.

I live according to the rules and so should everyone else who wants to live here.

Even Democrats themselves hold this view - in the Democratic Platform they detail that if you're here illegally and cause problems you must face the consequences.

Now: talking about him in particular . . . it shouldn't matter who he's related to. I think it's foul that Obama is suppose to support enforcement of our laws but lets his own family slide - talk about privileged class.

It's a position anyone should take. It should be a disqualification for any candidate to refuse to say that they would deport someone here illegally that gets picked up for drunk driving.

They are here illegally. They are driving illegally. They are driving drunk.

I seriously doubt he'd even deport Obama's uncle, let alone his own.

I "like" every post in this thread so far, btw.

Unless his base is retarded then most likely they think he is just saying that to lure anti-illegal immigration folks and die hard anti-Obama nuts. Most anti-illegal immigration folks know Romney is just lying his ass off and die hard anti-Obama loons don't care if Romney is lying.

In fairness to Romney, this was clearly a set-up by a right wing talk radio host. I imagine it went something like this:

"Would you deport Onyango Obama, an illegal alien who was arrested for drunk driving?"

Romney did not know who the man was.

In an interview with Boston radio host Howie Carr on Wednesday, Romney said "yes" when asked if Onyango Obama should be deported. Romney at first did not recognize the name, but said the nation's immigration laws should be enforced.

[from the OP's link]

From Howie Carr, on the reporting on Romney's alleged response:

This is the kind of red meat GOP primary voters want. Forget those 59-point economic plans and your [Romney's] 42-year marriage to Ann [Romney's wife]. Everywhere Americans go, they see illegals lounging on the corners, crowding the emergency rooms, using EBT cards at supermarkets, demanding translators in the district courts, dominating the local newspapers’ police blotters (driving without a license, driving without an inspection sticker, etc.).

The old song was right. Everything free in America. At least for illegal aliens.

The fact that the president of the United States has not one, but two relatives who came into the country illegally tells you absolutely everything you need to know about Barack Obama.

There is another thread accusing the left of biased reporting [cough].

I'd agree with the position, I just think that there's no reason that isn't partisan to single out somebody who's last name is "Obama." He wasn't asked if "a person with this rap sheet" should be deported, they asked him if Obama's uncle should be.

It's fine, it doesn't bother me. Tis the season for political grandstanding, and this is.

I believe Romney as much as I believe there are rainbow farting unicorns. With that said...the most important question should be....why is Obama's uncle still in this country if he is an illegal???????

No, the important question is... why is a relative of Obama being singled out by a conservative talk radio host?

It's both. If he's guilty of what he's accused of, then he should be deported. That said, the question posed was not an "in general" sort of question. He'd hardly be the first illegal immigrant guilty of the things he's accused of, but conservatives love this test case because the guy's last name is Obama.

Yes, it was used to try and make Obama look bad more than to gain an answer from Romney.

He probably has a point, but seriously, what a b****y point. Then again, b****y seems to be the fad in the Republican primaries this season.
