The doctor is in the house! Ron paul ad destroys newt!

What makes someone a career politician is what makes anything a career. Someone who enters a field out of ambition and in pursuit of wealth is making it a career. A person who enters a field out of principle and in pursuit of higher virtue is making it a cause. For Ron Paul politics is a cause, not a career. His own plan would call for cutting his salary as President by 90%. That is not the behavior of a career politician. None of the rich bastards who have won in the past ever expressed any determined interest in taking a pay cut even though they had no need for the money.

What makes it a cause is whether or not you agree with them. Otherwise it's a career.

Career and Cause are mutually independent. Agree or disagree with it, if you've "undertaken the occupation for a significant period of a person's life and with opportunities for progress" then it's a career on top of being a cause. Paul earns a salary as Congressman, so it's an occupation. Being President would be a progress on his current position. Plus, he has done this for a significant period of his life.

In fact it's hard to find politicians who want to run for President who are not career politicians - it would mean they are clowns like Trump or Cain, or failed to hold their positions for any period of time, which would make them appear incompetent.

So you have this amazing power to see the motivations of both politicians. Does the world know about your ESP?

I would say Ron Paul has a political career but is not a career politician. :3 (if you understand the meaning between the two)

Ron Paul is the definition of a career Southern politician. All old school Southern politicians claim they are Washington outsiders. For decade after decade. His greatest skill is the ability to obtain special interest earmarks added to legislation, him #38 among all in Congress.

Ron Paul was never Speaker of the House, like Newt. But he was all the other things like a career politician making tons of money.

He also has a medical practice before hand as well. What are people in Congress worth these days? 5 million is a lot to us, but is it a lot to Congress?

Ron Paul’s net worth is between approximately $2.25 million and $5 million, according to OpenSecrets. Trained in obstetrics and gynecology, Dr. Paul started his own practice in the late 1960s, following service in the Air Force. Paul has also written a number of best-selling books, including Liberty Defined, End the Fed, and The Revolution: A Manifesto.

He sold books, Newt sold his soul.

OMG, hyperbole much? Newt also wrote books and had a think tank last decade. Ronald Reagan used the ideas from a congressional society that Gingrich formed during his second term. He's been an ideas guy for a long time.

This is typical behavior for those not at the front.

No. If I mention that this apple is red, it doesn't mean that all the other apples are not red.

Well, I didn't here the dude calling anyone else consistently nuts, or just nuts, for that matter. In fact, I don't hear YOU calling any of the others nuts, or the current president nuts, either. I am to infer, then, that you likely don't feel the current president, or a few of the other would be wanna be presidents, are nuts.

To which I say again, if Bush 1 and 2, Clinton, Obama, etc, are not nutz...perhaps it's time to try something different. They say the definition of insanity is to repeat the same process over and over and over, expecting different results.

Depends, if you think it's a reflection of you, consider it on purpose.

Images of a horse's rear end has historical significance. They were typically used by artists to show extreme disfavor of leaders, rulers, etc, of their day, without actually coming out and saying it, since freedom of speech wouldn't hit us till much later in history. To put it politely, being called "a horse's ass" was basically being called scum.

Learn some logic.

In keeping with the title of the OP, who Ron Paul destroyed in last night's debate was himself. OMG does he hate Republican platforms or what?

Maybe he should wave his arms around more and raise his voice still another octave when he is trying to explain everything wrong with the USA, as opposed to what is wrong with Obama and the Democrats.

neither RP or the Newt are electible....Obama would win....that is what happens when you put up a fool against a smart man.
Obama is the smart man, in case anyone needs it explained.
That is a general rule, GWB is a fool who won, twice. He was lucky enough to run against bigger fools...

Want me to vote for Obama? Nominate Ron Paul for the GOP ticket. His hypocrisy on earmarks and pure insanity in his political beliefs horrifies me.

I don't understand where people are getting this idea of Ron Paul... I mean, I see the reasoning: politician for 35 years. Politicians are corrupt. Ergo Paul must be rich.

But he has $2.5-$5myn to his name and he's a doctor. That's pretty average. The man is not corrupt. Most politicians by this point easily have 10's-100's of millions. AND they get their congressional pension (WHICH RON PAUL HAS TURNED DOWN EVERY SINGLE YEAR SINCE HE'S BEEN ELIGIBLE - AT THE 5 YEAR MARK - CALLING IT IMMORAL AND HYPOCRITICAL)

Please understand that all this RonPaul table pounding that we do is not because we've fallen victim to another corrupt politician. it's because he's the real deal. He'll tell you flat out what he believes. Not what he thinks you want to hear. Every other politician you'll be guessing at what is really going to happen if they get office. With Ron Paul, you know EXACTLY what will happen.
