Who would be your ideal President?

Only three people I can think of.....

ME, MYSELF, and I.

Gen. George S. Patton... so we can hurry up and win the war on cancer, drugs, and terrorism. General Andrew Jackson so we can get rid of non-immigrants to this land. Jackson was at least smart enough to get rid of the Federal Bank.

Ok, in all seriousness... My dream ticket would be Ron Paul/Jesse Ventura vs. Jon Stewart/George Norey
...a win/win situation.
Then all we'd have to do is replace all of Congress... Country saved.

I thank whatever gods may be that day will never come.

That gave me a good chuckle.

anyway I think the point of the statement was saying that no one will ever be able to represent you better than yourself. If you truly wanted the ideal person to be in charge and represent your beliefs on any issue no one could do it better than you. Maybe I am reading too much into it.

I think it takes a bigger man to admit his limitations and say he has nowhere near the experience nor skill nessecary to run a diverse country of 300 million people.

There are days I wish I could be president to effect certain things but at the end of the day, I would never actually want the job.

I can agree with all that you said...but I stand by he would be totally ineffective and unable to do what needs to be done as long as the congress remains the same...its all about congress in my mind

Why?

He functioned perfectly fine in Utah with a very conservative state legislature. He'd have few issues with the House as its currently shaped. He'd have some issues with the Senate, but his tone and diplomatic ability would likely win over some blue dogs on necessary votes far easier than Obama's been able to win over Republicans with his rhetoric. I don't think he'd get everything done he wanted, but I think he'd be far more effective with the current make up of congress than Obama is.

It goes back to the fact that I am the only person who I trust to act in an appropriate manner, to maintain an appropriate lifestyle, and to do/think/say the right things.

Who said anything about running a diverse country of 300 million? I'm thinking much more of a less diverse country of maybe 180 million.

I wouldn't WANT the job either, but in the almost 20 years I've been a voter, I have never found a candidate that I could truly support 100%

BUT IN YOUR OWN MIND!

And therein lies the problem.

So while you continue to advocate a strict code of morality as DEFINED BY YOU under penalty of death, you're not going to find the electorate warming up to you any time soon.

And it certainly doesn't help your plan includes genocide.

When and where have I ever advocated the choice of the majority of the electorate as the proper means to decide anything?

Most of them would simply be deported. Only those who chose to resist would find violence.

So you'd want to take the country by force.

Guys who take over countries have a little thing called "Charisma" something which thankfully you do not possess in any way shape or form.

So while you dreams of a murderous, patriarchal society based on morals pulled out your ass feel very appealing to you, you'd have a pretty hard time getting anyone to help you with those plans.

Sorry bud you're SOL.

No, but if necessary I don't see anything wrong with doing it that way.

No. The media likes to portray it that way but what they really have is an ability and a willingness to use VIOLENCE (not charisma) to get things done.

You might be surprised about that.

Sorry bud you're SOL.

It probably won't be lead by me, but I do fully believe that you'll see a Right Wing Revolution here in the United States in the next 10-20 years.

The more I'm looking, Huntsman may be the closest to an ideal President in my mind...in part because I can't honestly say someone would be "ideal" who would have absolutely no shot. Experienced, has gotten results, conservative but doesn't push the social side hard, positive and moderate in his rhetoric, and seemingly devoid of the "slimy" feel I get from some politicians like Perry and Romney.

Indeed. Huntsman is one guy I'd like to know more about, but the media ignores him and he's so low in the polls I suspect they will continue to do so. :(

Do they have to be alive?

Do they have to be Constitutionally eligible?

As fart as actual possibilities, Colin Powell. Or Jesse Ventura.

Why? this congress cant agree on ANYTHING and they wont give an inch on either side...geez some have signed pledges they wont do this or that...any president proposing what they do not want to hear will go nowhere...as far as being more effective than obama, sure maybe...who knows though.

Most of those on the 1980 Olympic team cannot wait to piss on carter's grave

Who would be your ideal President? In your opinion, of course. And not limited to those who are running, but it can include declared candidates if that is your ideal person.

Gingrich's ability to speak the message, Rumsfeld/Cheney's ability to apply pressure, and Ronald Reagan's historical icon.

Well as much as I support Dr. Paul, I do not beleive he is hard enough on immigration. Because legal and illegal hurt American workers. The US was all immigrated out after they came through Ellis Island. How many Americans are out of work, and cannot put food on the table? I think until we fix this economy, and ensure that every American that can, is working, we need to totally seal the borders. Any immigration should not even be on the table at this point.

Hillary Clinton with Colin Powell as the vice president. With this pair, all the bases would be covered by someone with demonstrated ability to make good decisions for long-term planning and to get the job done.
