The leader of a tea party group is calling for scandal-embroiled GOP presidential candidate Herman Cain to drop out of the race.

Judson Phillips, the founding leader of Tea Party Nation, said Cain’s flailing response to sexual harassment allegations brought forward by several women was simply unacceptable.

When the Tea Party is calling for Cain to drop out, it is the final straw. And it is not only about how Cain has handled the sexual allegations, but how Cain, as a whole, is simply unprepared and incompetent to run for president.

Stick a fork in Cain. He is done.

Dude is making Palin look like William F. Buckley.

Hmm maybe the Tea Party leader knows something that we dont know, cuz remember he is "innocent"!

Unprepared, lacking ideas and awareness of the issues with little to no substance, especially the 999 plan, which quickly became 909 and whatever it may have morphed into now.

EDIT: I have to ask, why would he run? Did he really want it? Or as has been suggested, he was on an extended book tour?

You keep saying that, but I'm not sure it's so.

I don't know who the various leaders of the Tea Party movement are, and if Judson Phillips is the official spokesperson of THE Tea Party, well, I don't know who he is or whether there is only one Tea Party either.

Your quote says "a leader of a tea party group," Tea Party Nation (which I've never heard of). You say "the Tea Party." There is a difference.

Ahh, the luxury of the Tea Party. Republicans can just say there's no organization.

How is it that this guy doesn't speak for the TP, but one dumb chick at OWS speaks for "the Left?"

There is also the Tea Party Express, which was kicked out of the Tea Party movement, due to it's racist views.

Who'd have thunk that Judson Phillips would not like the black guy in the GOP campaign... lol

He is the racist dog whistle of tea party politics. The tea party would do well to distance themselves from this asshat.

I don't think this is about Cain's guilt or innocence where these charges of inappropriate (sexual) behavior are concerned. I think it's a matter of his lack of knowledge on foreign policy coupled with how his campaign has bungled these allegations. Besides that, yes, I believe there is something more to why they want him to throw in the towel. It's the same reason they want Bachmann to bow out: The Tea Party does not want anyone they support to move to the middle on the issues and start talking like a moderate, and they fear Cain, like Bachmann, eventually will do just that in order to win support among likely voters (and donors).

I got news for Mr. Phillips, though. If any Republican wants to win in 2012, they will have to move more to the center to reach a wider voter audience especially Independent voters. Otherwise, every one of them from Cain to Gingrich to Romney will lose.

How does, "the leader of a Tea Party group", suddenly become the whole Tea Party?

My dear and fluffy lord, there's still twelve months of this crap to go and I'm already so sick of it I could puke in Danarhea's hat.

Why are you posting this to me? I've made no such claim, and I'm not even a Republican.

I read this and the first thing I think is WHO THE **** is Judson Phillips and why do I give a **** what he thinks? Cain isn't going anywhere.

Also, everyone swore Gingrich was out when he made some comment early in the race and people swore they wouldn't vote for him. Lo and behold look where he is now. Voters are moronic and have very short memories.

Actually, his book didn't come until we were months into the "race."

Nothing but socialists and liberals in here trying to tear down Cain, a black man, cause he doesn't know his place.
