Why not Gary Johnson?

I disagree. Cain is in it for the money. Sarah Palin made 12 million bucks as the GOP flavor of the month last year. Cain is running to be the next Sarah Palin.

So is Gingrich.

So is Gingrich.

No - I believe Gingrich is serious. Whether you like him or not, he is a political genius. He is running for real, but Romney is going to win this nomination easily. He is going to run away with it.

Here is some irony for you. In 1964, the stop Goldwater wing of the GOP, headed by William Scranton, attempted to recruit George Romney to thwart Goldwater's run at the nomination. It failed. This year, there is a stop Romney wing of the GOP that is trying to thwart his son's run at the nomination. It will also fail. LOL.

If Romney does get the nomination, do you think there will be a push for a third party candidate?

I like Gary Johnson fine, but Ron Paul has more support. He is virtual tied with Mitt, Newt, and Cain in the polls. Paul has 80% of the military vote. Ron Paul is much more of a household name. Paul's platform has a nice ring...
Commander and Chief? Elect a veteran.
Health care ? Elect a doctor.
Economy? Austrian economist.
Freedom? Libertarian.

I could go for a Paul/Johnson ticket.

Yes, I think there might be. My guess is that a significant number of voters won't be able to get past the Mormon issue.

If we look at Gary Johnsons performance in New Mexico, his fiscal record is absolutly horrible. Most Democrarts did a better job than Gary Johnson.

While he was in office
Goverment spending as a percentage GDP increased from 10% to 13% of GDP per capita from 1995 to 2003. The only state I know that did worse is Mississippi.

Public sector wages as a fraction of private sector wages went from 0.28 to 0.33. In most states it is around 0.10 to 0.20, and none had such a large increase. Not even Mississippi is beating new Mexico in either increase or value.

He may have the right ideas, but he is a weak governor, and would be a weak president.
