Exclusive: Romney Family Investment Group Partnered With Alleged Perpetrators Of $8 Billion Ponzi Scheme | ThinkProgress

This could be big. Romney and his son have ties to a ponzi scheme second only to bernie madoff's. Romney is all wall st and people are rightfully furious over wall st right now. Also romney wants to repeal dodd-frank.

I want to repeal Dodd/Frank as every thinking person should want it repealed and replaced with something that doesn't institutionalize Too Big To Fail.

The timing of this article is off by about 2 months. If it was about Perry, it would be one month old.

You are supposed to be hitting Cain right now. Get with the picture.

Why is he supposed to be hitting any one in particular?

Because the focus right now is on the fake sexual harrassment charges against Herman Cain. Can't let that jigaboo get any farther ahead than he is.

Liberalism is at stake here, you need to get with the program, too.

He'd just be following the media's general example...

See, this is a good example of why conservatives are having such a hard time against a weak president. Cain's problems and this story are not the media's fault, and I am not even going to go into apdst's insane rant.

I wasn't implying that the media is specifically targeting Cain or that his problems are their "fault". That wasn't even a secondary implication of my statement.

What I meant (and thought would be assumed, my apologies) was that the media in general (all of 'em, really) picks whoever is highest in the polls and goes after them, either blatantly ignoring or downplaying everybody else.

Ah, I see. You are kinda sorta right. Those closest to the top will receive more scrutiny in that news on them is going to generate more interest. News is ratings driven.

Cain doesn't have a problem.

The king of race baiting at DP strikes again.

Cain doesn't have a problem.

Yeah, he does have a problem. His problem was in not confronting the accusation head on. Admit the accusations were made, admit that a settlement was paid to avoid litigation, and deny any wrongdoing. DO NOT pretend that there were never accusations made.

Anyone want to talk about the actual issue? I don't see this as having a huge impact on Mitt. Basically, he gave his son 10 million in start up capital back in 2008. His son then proceeded to partner with a bunch of guys who were on trial for running Ponzi scheme. Tagg's firm also gave some money back to his fathers campaign. There is no direct connection to Mitt, nor is their any evidence that anyone used political power to influence the trial. The end result is that hopefully Romney will tell his son not to do business with scumbags.

How did a thread about mitt romney's ponzi scheme turn into a herman cain thread?

Accusations were made about Obama's citizenship also. Accusations were made about Cain. They were accusations have been argued and decided that they do not disqualify one from being president.

Lol. birtherism = accusations of harrassment? okay

Why can it not? It is certainly a very legitimate arguement when talking about the accusations made about Clarence Thomes.

There was no proof that obama was born else where. obama had proof he was born in hawaii and nowhere else. These accusations, we don't know about. But whatever. Think what you want. This thread is already getting derailed.

Cain doesn't have a problem.

More true than not most likely. I am having a hard time getting worked up about something that maybe happened over 10 years ago myself.

It would be great if we can stick to the topic and move the herman cain stuff to one of the cain threads.

Guilt by association is not a valid arguement. If his son conducted the Ponzi Schemem himself, it still doesn't mean Romney has done anything wrong.
