Pat Robertson Says GOP Getting Too 'Extreme' To Win Election

It is the centrists who win elections, and regardless of how insane Robertson is, you have to admit that Romney is most like Obama among the top GOP candidates:

Which is why, as a Conservative I'd vote for Obama before Romney. They're both Leftists, but at least Obama is HONEST about being one, rather than the liar that Romney is.

If by that you mean Obama is far left Dem and Romney is far left GOP, I'd agree. Other wise, I'd say you havent a clue.

Which is why, as a Conservative I'd vote for Obama before Romney. They're both Leftists, but at least Obama is HONEST about being one, rather than the liar that Romney is.

Obama is a left-centrist, and Romney is a right-centrist. They are the two most similar candidates in the 2012 race. As history shows us, the centrist candidates are the ones that win US elections. Kucinich is hard left, which is why the centrist Obama beat him in the 2008 election.

But, hey don't listen to me, go right ahead and try to put a hard-right candidate up against Obama if you choose.

So in other words their both Leftists ( properly defined as anyone other than a Hard-Right Wing Conservative). The fact that centrists win elections is one of the most damning proofs against elections by the masses in this country.

No, both Obama and Romney are centrist (as defined by the majority of Americans - or conservatives by most of the people in the world), which is why they have the best chances of winning. Even Pat Robertson is not insane enough to not see that.

Are you opposed to governing by the will of the people?

What does this say for the GOP when Pat Robertson thinks they are too extreme (at least outwardly)?

I think it is a calculated strategy in Pat Robertson's fight for the Lord! Satan is already getting the chills.

All I have to do to prove this false is examine the Democrat primary of 2007. Hillary Clinton lost and she is a good deal more centrist than Obama is and has been. Centrists do not win elections, turning out your vote and having resonating ideas with a good portion of the electorate does. Another pointed lesson would be the 2008 election, Obama beat McCain and McCain was also a good deal more centrist than Obama.

Romney is more like a GOP version of Bill Clinton that would "lead" by opinion poll.
I dont know if you are familiar with Chicago politics and politicians or not but Obama is doing what the upstaters do every year, pandering for votes. Acting like they are centrists and hoping the media covers for them, which it has, for years.

Of course, when one is willing to ignore Right in an attempt to WIN, there's really not much that can be argued, now is there? That is what Mr Robertson is suggesting.... ignore the Right, embrace the Wrong, and somehow attempt to reclaim one's soul after the fact. Sorry, not interested.

I am opposed to the vast majority of "the people" having a say to begin with.

We will have to agree to disagree, I think most people saw Obama as more pragmatic and centrist than Hillary, and I think the majority saw Obama was more centrist than McCain, who had been the strongest supporter of the war against Iraq and had been rattling sabers for a war with Iran

Romney is more like a GOP version of Bill Clinton that would "lead" by opinion poll.

I haven't seen Obama take the hard left positions that Kucinich and Sanders push for. Can you name them?

Good for you, stick to your guns!

Well, the far-right is your ticket then!

Robertson, perhaps one of the most partisan, right-wing, Christian politicians in the country feels that the GOP has been too extreme with their views. I'll let Jon Stewart call out the obvious irony in this situation:

Jon Stewart: Pat Robertson’s Call For GOP To ‘Tone It Down’ Is Just An Election Ploy

What does this say for the GOP when Pat Robertson thinks they are too extreme (at least outwardly)?

Pat Robertson was told by God the equation for division by 0.

Pat Robertson also admitted his influence has diminished over the years, and he is going to stay out of politics. Wait....

What does this say for the GOP when Pat Robertson thinks they are too extreme (at least outwardly)?

Can we please stop using this ridiculous rhetorical argument? It's ridiculous how many liberals have said this over the past decade, and how often it was used before that. All that happens is liberals shift who is making the party "more extreme."

Late term abortion support
Income redistribution through government fiat and regulatory burden
Disrupting first lein rights in the bankruptcy proceedings with Chrysler, stiffing teacher and firefighter pension investments
Green energy initiatives based upon taxing of existing energy industries
Abandonment of DOMA
Gun control dogma based upon failed ATF and DOJ gun sting trafficking
Demonization and discrimination upon the basis of income
Clean Air regulations not passed by congress
Drilling moritorium based upon findings that has no bearing on the permits

Those are off the top of my head. Shrug how many does it take to get far left cred nowadays?

I think you have misinterpreted most of these issues. Please provide sources with links, for these supposed positions.

Lets review the major area's and the way the President has governed conservatively, foreign policy, bank bailouts, continued the Bush tax cuts for the wealthy last year, and signed onto the Republican's idea for an insurance mandate for health insurance rather than a single payer system.

Perhaps you should find links for each of these things, as "off the top of your head" seems to be full of misconceptions and erroneous thinking. Its ok to have an opinion, but its best that such an opinion be based upon facts rather than misguided perceptions.
