President Obama is an amazing speaker

When you watch and listen to Obama speaking, you just get this feeling deep down inside that we are witnessing greatness. The verbal wisdom that just so naturally showers us all with droplets of genius, warming the heart while filling us all with morsels of joy and hope, giving us the courage to say...yes we can. I get rather emotional, but these are tears of a motivated American charging forward knowing we have a real commander in chief at the helm leading us with our booming economy and low unemployment. Leading us with his knowledge and vision of more taxes. A modern day Robin Hood if you will. We are not worthy of this great man, this patron saint of wisdom, this great orator of love and tolerance and charity and gratuity and friendship and justice and beauty and peace...No we are not worthy, but grateful to have the opportunity to witness such an eloquent, and talented speaker that has mobilized a nation...Whether liberal, conservative, independent, anarchist, marxist, or nihilist, we stand in awe!

:lol::lol::lol::lol:

Very well done.

there are millions of government employees across this country.

so yes, govt. can and does create jobs.

Paid for with money that could have done much more good in the private sector.

The money, for example, that is being used to pay you and others like you to sit around all day playing on the Internet, doing no actual work, and producing no value, would certainly do a lot more good in the private sector, paying someone to do real work that creates real wealth and value, by creating goods and/or offering services, and thus contributing to the economy as a whole.

It gets down to the eternal struggle between makers and takers.

I'm a maker. I create wealth, to the benefit of all. You are a taker. You only consume wealth that people like myself worked to create.

An amazing speaker and a terrible president.

during the campaign, Obama promised to capture or kill Osama bin Laden.

And he came through.

He also promised hope and change and all he has done is destroy hope and make everyone have less change. Pun intended.

Please feel free to explain to us how these jobs are paid for...

Also, you cannot just create jobs just for the sake of making sure everyone can go to "work". They are not going to have 200 police officers in a city with a poulation of 5000.

Good to know we can always count on some one to Godwinn a thread...

first, it's Godwin, and you fail to actually grasp the point of the law.

"someone inevitably criticizes some point made in the discussion by comparing it to beliefs held by Hitler and the Nazis."

Nobody is comparing the beliefs of Obama to Hitler, they are pointing out that being a good speaker doesn't mean squat when it comes to leadership.

Someone needs a new law about how some dumb-ass always comes around misapplying the comical nature of Godwin's law.

You know, considering he doesn't write his own speeches, he only reads them.....he's not very impressive to me. I can read aloud an award winning novel with the best of them, but that doesn't make me a writer.

So they FOUND the missing truck with the teleprompter then? Phew!

Yes...he gives good speech, just like he gives good talking point. His Hope/Change thing worked, even though most people that bought into it will now say he is Bush light on all those changey things...not near the liberal they thought they were electing. Now comes the new slogan..."We Cant Wait". And it will work. And no one will ask...umm...dood...if "We Cant Wait" then why are we just hearing about these new things just before the election? I guess more accurately stated...we cant wait ANOTHER 4 years...

Let me be clear....

That's his goto line. Like McCain's "My friends....".

Uses it constantly.

Which is why he turns people off.

He would be just as effective if he said "I really like the way this spin sounds, so I want to make sure you don't miss it....".

Clinton had that same set of favorable in 2008. Obama beat her.

this is incorrect - Clinton in 2008 running for the party nomination was like Romney running for the Republican party in 2012. His/Her past deviations from the current party ideological center meant that relatively few were all that terribly thrilled about her... but she was inevitable. Obama came along, and was an actual liberal, running in a more liberal party, at a time when Republicans were on the ropes. Imagine if Rick Perry woke up tomorrow with the ability to speak coherently, or Gingrich woke up tomorrow without any baggage attached to him. They would go toe to toe with Romney's money for a looong time, and eventually win. Because (like with Obama in 2008), they would be leading a movement while their opposition was leading a campaign.

To the extent that the favorables mentioned extended into the Democratic Primary (the unpopularity of the Iraq War especially), they did so in Obama's favor, not Clinton's.

You are holding on to a weak reed. It will support you as well as it did Martha Coakley.

For anyone who has forgotten what an amazing orator President Obama is, watch this video..and ask yourself if he can't win alone on just his speaking skills.

What do you think he won on in '08?

eh, general exhaustion with Bush and a fiscal collapse.

Absolutely. Then we get back to reality.

eh, general exhaustion with Bush and a fiscal collapse.

Iraq war, torture, and erosion of civil liberties (warrantless wiretapping, etc) had far more to do with it.

So I find it comical that Obama didn't reverse course on any of that.

Obama won because
1. He was bringing hope, this time he won't
2. He was not a republican, this time it doesn't matter
3. He was against the wars and lobbying, this time he can't because he didn't do anything.
3. He was black, this time it won't matter
4. He was running on national unity, this time he will be running on "blame the republicans platform".

Mitt Romney is a terrible candidate, but Obama didn't win by that much in 2008, so even a terrible candidate can beat Obama right now.
