Dan Savage To Herman Cain: Prove Being Gay Is A Choice

Well, since you were talking about sexual desire, and not sexual behavior, then it means that it really isn't a choice anyway. No one has a choice in what turns them on. The only choice they have is how they act on that desire.

It doesn't matter if you believe a person is born gay, strait, bi, or all, or that part or all of sexuality/attraction is influenced by environment, since it is pretty easy to see people do not choose who they are really attracted to.
See how silly this all gets? You are making that statement in response to me as if I havent said that exact same thing a dozen or so times in this thread alone?

No. These arguments are used as a deflection from the main issue, whether homosexuals should be able to act on those desires in all the same ways that heterosexuals are legally allowed to act on such desires.

Not exactly eloquently delivered, but the point still stands. When are Presidential candidates going to stop harping on these petty social issues and actually address the core problems in our country? Stop marginalizing minorities with your ignorance and bile in order to get ahead. It makes America look bad and frankly, the actual experts on the subject have clearly demonstrated that people's sexuality is hardwired. Your ignorance is not equal to their knowlege, so STFU already.
I tend to dismiss challenges like this (regardless the subject) out of hand. People who say things like "prove to me..." are pretty much never as open-minded as they claim to be. You could actually provide proof, and they'll simply dismiss it anyway.

Yes, sexual behavior is voluntary. Sexual preference is not voluntary. What's your point? That dan savage's challenge really wouldn't prove anything? Yeah, we know. Dan savage was being an idiot and should stay out of political debate and stick to sex advice.

It's the old time-tested pattern for winning a GOP race: just say "pro-life, cut taxes, bomb the arabs, kill all fags", and then as long as you have a family and are married to the opposite sex and have a vanilla sex life, everyone right winger will get out of his barn and get excited about you.

In fact, it amazes me why GOP candidates waste so much time and money debating in public and/or crafting messages whem the aforementioned 4 is all one needs.

It also amazes me liberals haven't picked up on this simple strategy. All we have to do is get a White candidate who has a family who's married to the opposite sex to masquerade himself as a Republican and then have him say those 4 things.

Then even if the GOP candidate wins, he/she will be our candidate and so there will be nothing to worry about.
