Newt Gingrich dropped a proposal for a series of debates at the end of the Nevada Debate last night (Oct 18, 2011). He said he would propose a series of seven Lincoln-Douglas style debates, each three hours long with no moderator and only a time keeper.
1) Who thinks Obama, who has compared himself to Lincoln, will actually agree to such a debate format if Gingrich were to get the republican nomination?
2) Who would win this debate?
This would be like the World series of Politics. I would love to see it. I don't know that Gingrich can get the nomination but I don't count him out. If he did get the nomination and Obama agreed to the format, Gingrich would devestate Obama. I say it would be over for Obama after the third debate. I don't think Obama would ever agree to this format though. He would have too much to lose.
