The Western Republican Presidential Debate 10/18/11 Thread

It's a bad idea, but not because Paul is smarter. Paul is irrelevant, and so going after him serves no purpose strategically.

When you say something nice about Paul, hell will freeze over. I dare you to say something nice about him, do it!

Also i heard Piers or whatever his name got on Cain and agreed with Paul. I don't know the exact details yet. I'll post a vid whenever it comes on youtube i guess.

I'll get you one day to warm up to him. :3

One of the talking points on the TV tonight was that Obama was the winner of last nights debate. None of the republican candidates came off looking good. Romney's line about telling his lawn company they could not have illegals working on his lawn because he was running for office was especially bad.
Mitt out did himself with that line. This will be used against him.

Excuse me everyone but tax law is written in the Way and Means Committee, and last time I checked the President isn't a member. So all this hoopla over 9-9-9 or whatever is purely academic. It is merely his opinion on a solution. Opinions are like assholes. I want to know about his leadership qualities, cause that's what the president is. We have a clear example of what leadership isn't, in the WH right now. I want to know about his concepts on foreign policy and how they fit within the context of the Constitution and national interests.

Yeah, no kidding. And Presidents don't write health care legislation either. Or any legislation, for that matter. But they call it Obamacare and not Health, Education, Labor and Pensionscare for a reason. Presidents propose legislation all the time and they are hugely influential in getting it passed.

Mitt & Perry were drunk during the debate [vid proof].

Ron Paul: 'I Was Tempted To Walk Off' Republican Debate

"I can tell you that after the first 45 minutes I was tempted to walk off that stage," he said, according to the Des Moines Register. "These TV shows where they beat up on each other, I think that's what the people like...They enjoy this. They think it's a game they're playing," he said.

Addressing the way in which the situation unfolded he asserted, "I thought it was disgusting."

Other Republican candidates have criticized the tone of the debate. Former Utah Gov. Jon Huntsman, who skipped the showdown to campaign in New Hampshire, said he was "completely embarrassed" by it and called it "more game-show-like than anything else." Former House Speaker Newt Gingrich said the attacks between Romney and Perry made him "very uncomfortable," and that they "hurt the entire Republican Party."
