ALEC's Stand Yur ground law lets whites kill blacks and walk [W:823]

Oh please, so if you act like a ****ing thug you should killed for it. Your attitude towards a dead person is disgusting. Let God judge the dead.

I never understood why people have so much vitriol for a dead, 17 year old.

This trial brings out the worst in America.

Horse ****. SYG applies to anyone, and that higher rate of homicides ruled justifiable probably NEEDED to be ruled justified.

the real moral of the story? Don't be a ****ing thug and you won't get your ass shot off.

It doesn't sound ugly. It's the entire purpose of SYG statutes. If you were edumicated, you'd know that.

Yes - the purpose is to give a license to kill. And the statistics prove that.

That a person can kill another person, claim selfdefense and just be allowed to walk because someone takes their word for it is undermining to our civilization. That's how bad this type of law is...........................

Oh its pretty easy to understand. Difficult for a rational person who is not bigoted to accept .... yes. But not that hard to understand.

And that is evidence that young black males are thereby automatically suspicious simply because of others in their demographic group?

avoiding the wrongness of your op analysis this quickly? must be some kind of record

A more pertinent question is are you able to ? And then tell us what of your evidence Zimmerman was aware of that night when he called Martin in to the police as suspicious.

All he had when he got out of the truck was suspicion.... which is enough to justify looking into something.

By the time the shot was fired, he had a busted nose and his head had been pounded into the pavement.... he considered that sufficient cause.... so do I....

Actually this is a much more likely "mindset" due to the "race baiters".
(UPDATED) Police Shooting of Black Man Further Increases Racial Tensions in Little Rock, Ark.

Young man in a stolen suv, ran, fought with police and was shot, by a black police officer. Yet here they are.

So I guess the message is, it really doesn't matter, no matter what has been done, if you shoot, you're a racist.

Meanwhile.......back in REALVILLE.
In 513 Days Between Trayvon Shooting and Zimmerman Verdict, 11,106 Blacks Murdered by OTHER BLACKS | Independent Journal Review

But I know, it's all due to unfair treatment.

Except in cases of abortion, right?

Yeah, I spent some years cleaning up the aftermath of broken lives, broken people, and broken children in the wake of thug's actions, so I have this odd lack of sympathy for them.

Really!?!?!?!? And were it not for a 2005 ALEC inspired law in Florida the jury instructions would have been radically different.

Ohio has its own SYG law - certainly you're aware of that. If they didn't? When that home invader with the shotgun broke into your home in the middle of the night, and you struck him over the head with a baseball bat and killed him? His family might own everything you have or will ever have -- because you didn't have to hit him over the HEAD with the bat -- you could have just broken his leg...or run out the back door.

God forbid your son get in a fight, touch a drug, or skip a class. Because 10 to 1, his little ass will get in trouble and he isn't an angel.

Chances are, you wouldn't give a crap about an average American kid doing any of the above, but since Zimmerman shot and killed this one, it's different.

Available evidence indicates otherwise.

Do I really need to enumerate it?

Suspensions, fighting, drug use... and then attacking a man, getting on top of him and slamming his head into the pavement.

Close enough.

What if Trayvon had shot and killed Zimmerman because he felt threatened by this strange guy who had been following him around?

Except in cases of abortion, right?

Abortion is only an issue to monotheists. It is uncontrolled reproduction and the lack of abortion and birth control that have turned vast swathes of the planet into cesspits, not the opposite............................

I've probably answered this five times.

I've BEEN followed by suspicious persons. I've dealt with it, sometimes by evasion and sometimes by confrontation, but I have never yet just walked up to a follower, knocked him down and got on top of him and pounded his head into the pavement--- without concrete evidence of hostile intent!

Thank you, that's all I need to know. I appreciate your candour.

It's always different, TO YOU, when it is YOUR own kid. Always. Human nature.

Of course, that changes exactly nothing about who was in the right or who was in the wrong.

This one in particular, jumped him and pounded his head into the pavement.... which kind of makes a difference.

I am a survivor or a crime myself. I don't have hatred nor am I racist as a result. Holding any part of humanity in contempt or becoming racist has never tempted me.

As for Trayvon, I am not aware of him hurting children or destroying any life. Of course Zimmerman is going to pay a price the rest if his life, but Trayvon is dead. Two families are in immense pain. The best outcome would have been for Zimmerman to go to the store and Trayvon to go home.

Zimmerman isn't living with only Trayvon's actions, he is living with his own as well. There are a lot of victims in this situation. Vitriol and hate won't resolve anything.

Yeah, I spent some years cleaning up the aftermath of broken lives, broken people, and broken children in the wake of thug's actions, so I have this odd lack of sympathy for them.

Zimmerman could have handled the situation better as well. He could have actually tried to defuse the situation. The fact is, Zimmerman did not entirely lack control of the situation. They both made poor decisions. don't you think the outcome is tragic for everybody involved?

Ma'am, I hate no one. I am not a racist. I resent your implication that I am.

This is something the other pros on the board will know what I'm talking about, and others probably won't; when I say I'd shoot someone for something, it has NOTHING to do with hate. I have no need to hate someone to shoot them. It is when they cross a certain line, which typically involves making their self a serious threat to me or mine, that I will shoot. I will shoot them with no hate in my heart whatsoever.... to be perfectly honest, with a certain regret (that they forced me into this choice)... but I will shoot them nonetheless.

I don't think I could handle living with killing another person. Surviving a violent crime eould be difficult enough, but to kill somebody would be added trauma in my mind. I would prefer to avoid killing anybody, under any circumstance.

And who decides if he has a choice? Therein lies the rub.

"George Zimmerman was bigger and stronger, damn it!! He should have been able to "shrimp away" from underneath Trayvon Martin!! Now! Give me $2 million in my civil suit."

It occurs to me that some/most people are on this board to learn -- and teach. Why are you here?

Right. Maybe it's because I don't have a kid to cloud my judgement, but I usually -- as much as I can -- try to walk a mile in someone's shoes before reaching opinion. But just let me say that if your kid even got suspended from school, or got caught smoking weed, I would not think he was a thug. It would take a hell of a lot more than that.

I wasn't there. You were not there. Neither of us knows if Zim could have handled this better, or if he had sufficient control over the situation to have prevented this from happening.

Zimmerman had no capacity to see the future... he didn't know this was going to happen when he got out of his vehicle, or he would have stayed in it. Less than wise? Yes... but not a criminal act.

What we do know is that TM chose to confront him, and quickly escalated that to hitting, mounting, and ground-and-pounding him on pavement. That is a threat to life or grave bodily harm, and a violent crime. That is justification to shoot.

This one in particular, jumped him and pounded his head into the pavement.... which kind of makes a difference.

You never did get the opportunity to hear the other side of the story, didn't you? Yet you have no issue calling him a thug.

TM did a hell of a lot more than that, according to the evidence as presented in court.
