title asks the question
and what causes you to decide to - or not to - have zimmerman testify at his trial
this is asked because i do not now know how i would approach the trial

We don't have enough information to make a call on that. Only the defense lawyers have all the details. If I was to guess, I would say no reason to at this point. They have his written testimony, so why take a chance on him being made to look stupid by a good prosecuting attorney?

I would not let him....so, it's no

Nothing is going to be gained by that

There is no way to answer that until the prosecution has rested its case.

I would not put him on the stand. One incorrect statement or recollection and he'd be toast.

If I were zimmerman's lawyer my first public statement would be like this:

To all the people who are sucked into this case, you are all fu*king morons. Go home, do something else. This is a crime that happened as do thousands of racial crimes happen in the USA every year. Nothing different. Other than the parties who are directly involved in this case, meaning the parents and the acquintancies of the victim and my client, none of you should give a sh*t. This is not a special case. There is no matter of principle discussed here. There is just a bunch of people saying whether or not my client is guilty of premeditated murder, hate crime or just plain stupidity. If it ever becomes a matter of political ideology and fundamental process in regards to state law, I will let you all know. Moreover, the hundreds of lawyers and analysts will let you know. But as it stands now, you're all just wasting your time trying to figure out if my client did it or not and the whole media prop-up serves to increase racial tensions.

Also, it sucks to have the President of the USA side with the victim in this case and that the authorities took no great action to prevent the numerous manhunts called on my client by all sort of crazy groups out there like the Black Panther party. I am seriously in fear of my life and so is my client.

That is all. Thank you for your attention and I hope it all goes away and nobody will ever mention this except as an exercise to show how easy it is to hype the sh*t out of things by the media. Goodbye you sh*theads.

You should send a letter to President Obama, Al Sharpston and Jessie Jackson explaining how they are "fu*king morons."

Obama is a politician... so ofc he will go where he can score political points.

Al sharpton and jessie jackson are ****ing morons and racists to boot.

Also, I'm a bit disappointed that is all you decided to extract from the entire comment. I really put some effort into it.

It's much more than that. It's the trial case for the Stand Your Ground Law. This was a clear case of stalking and no, there is no way I'd have Zimmerman on the stand.

Is Stand Your Ground law on trial or is Zimmerman? Because it can't be both. Just one. One is an ideology, it must be changed by lawmakers or a supreme court. So I guess Zimmerman gets to either be free or stay in prison.

Their injecting into and corrupting the entire judicial process for their own political gains is the greatest significant of the case. As a result, the entire weight (and corruption) of the political government has been crashed down on GZ, starting with denying a Grand Jury review, and then firing and demoting any officer who would not support prosecution.

No respectable defense Attorney would ever say such non-sense.
They just wouldn't waste their time.

Especially the following portion.
:slapme:
This is a crime that happened as do thousands of racial crimes happen in the USA every year.

This was a clear case of stalking
No it was not.
Zimmerman was engaged in legal behavior which makes it not stalking.

it must be changed by lawmakers or a supreme court
No, it does not need to be changed.

har har har.

I don't have lawyer lingo. It was just to exemplify the commonality of the case whose only extraordinary feature lies in the fact that the media made it extraordinary.

And no, I have no opinion in regards to Stand Your Ground.I was merely pointing out that SYG law will not be put on trial in this trial. Zimmerman will be put on trial. If he uses SYG law to escape and fails, and gets sentenced to prison, it doesn't mean SYG law is bad. if he wins, it doesn't mean SYG law is good. In order to put SYG on "trial" as it were it must be in a supreme court, a constitutional court or by the lawmakers. Not in any old court of law.

:lamo

Just how do you think it would get to Fla. Sct?

Let me clue you in. Then maybe you will understand that SYG is also on trial.

A decision gets made by the lower Court about that specific law and how it applies (such as the court hearing Zimmerman's case).
One of the sides disagrees, and appeals that decision to the Court of Appeals.
Rinse and repeat to the Fla. Sct.

Understanding your point, I agree.

There is not one white person who is a moron in the entire world you could have thrown in there?

I had my suspicions, but this confirms why you are so biased in this case:lol:

Hey dude... that comment was a reply to my post. Look it up. Also, follow the rest of the conversation for a full non-redundant conversation.

Not enough information available to us at this point to determine how to approach it.

If you can name any other president or presidential candidate who spoke out on this case, name who that is.

I am not sure how some of you would mount an affirmative defense without having him testify. The burden is on his side to do that and there were no witnesses that I recall who can offer direct testimony sufficient to show he was being attacked and beaten as alleged.

I don't think anyone can answer that question intelligently until one has actually seen the prosecution's case. Normally, attorneys are loath to allow their clients to testify because it opens the door for the prosecution to ask a whole lot of questions they wouldn't otherwise be allowed to ask . . . the client's demeanor may turn off the jury . . . the client may make a mistake and, through a wordy answer, allow still more information to be introduced that wouldn't be otherwise allowed.

However. This case would seem to be all about conjecture and circumstantial evidence on the prosecutor's side. Whose voice is calling for help? Who saw what when? Timing of the 911 call to the events that unfolded. I think a jury is going to want to hear from Zimmerman. I also think he'll make a good defendant on the stand. Putting all things together, I'm betting he'll testify -- unless the prosecution's case is extremely weak.

More baseless accusations:roll:

Anything to smear Trayvon is irrefutable fact!

Any negative information on GZ is a government conspiracy!

That's not really accurate and he has told his story in many, many recorded and videoed interviews with the police.

Facts do trouble you so. It is irrefutable fact that no Grand Jury was allowed to hear. It is irrefutable fact that the Chief of Police was fired and lead investigator demoted for refusing to support prosecution.
