Judge Allows George Zimmerman to Leave County - WSJ.com

The former neighborhood watch volunteer charged in the fatal shooting of Florida teenager Trayvon Martin can leave the county where he lives so he can meet with his attorneys, a judge said Friday.

Judge Kenneth Lester said he will adjust George Zimmerman's bond terms so he can have easier access to his lawyers. The terms of Mr. Zimmerman's $1 million bond that were set last month had required him to stay in Seminole County, where the unarmed 17-year-old was shot in February.

So, a criminal defendant in detention who cannot post bail or is held without bail can now be allowed to leave county to meet their lawyers? How does that work? Or is it just special for Zimmerman?

More Zimmerman is guilty.
It's the county not the country.

Judge says George Zimmerman can leave home county to meet with lawyers in Trayvon Martin case - The Washington Post

O’Mara said it is possible he will ask the judge to expand the order to allow Zimmerman to reside in Orange County as well.

“Or other places,” he said. “I don’t think he needs to be limited to central Florida. I don’t think he needs to be limited to Florida because of some of the threats and danger that’s still out there.”
No, I don't think he needs to be limited to central Florida. I don't think he needs to be limited to Florida because of some of the threats and danger that's still out there throughout the whole country. Heck, just send him to China and let them deal with him.

Case closed. Out tax dollars saved.

Criminal case vs civil case.

You are either completely naive or just determined not to give a tiny bit of empathy to the defendant in this case.

He posted bail.

It's not that unusual. Gov. Rod Blagoavich (Illinois) was allowed to be on The Apprentice in New York City. That's a high profile I know of -- I'm sure there are many others.

Dolphin definitely has no empathy for George Zimmerman.

For a guy who claimed he bought a gun to shoot a neighbor's dog? The tiny bit of empathy I had for him now all go to the dog. What a heartless overkill.

I know he posted bail. Where did I say otherwise?

Then you certainly can tell us that dog's name. What is it?

BTW, Florida law is REAL big on the right to shoot threatening dogs. There was an article in the local paper here - an hour or so from Sanford - of an humane society person explaining it is certainly fine to shoot a dog threatening you when you are outside, but they would prefer if you are inside and see a threatening dog that you call them rather than go outside and shoot it - although you have a legal ability to do so.

Around here it is very rare to see a stray dog, but mostly that is because gators really like dog meat. It is strictly prohibited against shooting threatening gators. That's a huge no-no. Very illegal.

So... in Florida if your neighbor's mini terrier is out of their yard and off lease, threatening you, you can shoot it. But if a 14 foot gator gets in your house threatening you, you can't.

You aren't from Florida, are you?

Did Zimmerman have any empathy for Trayvon or any black kids walking slowly on the grass in the rain looking at houses while wearing a hoodie?

Obviously he did or he would not have waited until TM was beating him to death to go for his gun. And that is presuming you believe he lied about crying for days over it.

The name of that dog you have empathy for?

Go ask Zimmerman. He gave the reason for getting a gun, didn't he.

Trigger happy. Obviously, you and Zimmerman and his wife are bad people. Dogs have special sense.

In fact I've never shot a dog but many a gator. I'm FWC so I'm special and get to do so. Then again, like Obama, I've eaten dog but that was also in my youth. Dog does not make a fine meal ("The Patriot"), but will keep a person alive.

Unless the judge orders electronic monitoring, the common policy is to allow defendants to travel freely within the USA. Usually, they will hold your passport.

In a case like this where the outcome is very uncertain, it seems to be within common practice.

Ummmm, that would be here:
Read carefully. I was referring to other criminal defendants, those not as lucky as Zimmerman, who could not raise funds through online donations and those who were not granted bail by the judge. Those people had to sit in jail while waiting for their trial. They don't go to their lawyers. Their lawyers come to them. In jail.

The judge did just that for him in his first bail. It's also common practice for the judge to deny bail after Zimmerman tried to pull a fast one on him in his first bail.

blah, blah, blah I want Zimmerman in prison blah blah blah

I do NOT have any position or opinion about the outcome of this case. I was just trying to contribute my personal knowledge about bail customs for what it's worth (HINT: not much).

Apparently, the judge changed his mind?

Totally inane, incoherent and irrelevant

The fact is... the evidence speaks well for Z's credibility...

Z called the police immediately. Z made no attempt to flee, the scene and most importantly was extremely cooperative with SPD investigators *without legal counsel*

Clearly demonstrating a clear conscience with no ill will

Are you kidding? George is spoiled rotten pantywaist. Why would anyone have empathy for an arrogant moron who shot and killed and unarmed teen?

George has shown NO remorse for his actions..

Just send money to prop up his celebrity.

Interesting, I thought this was about Zimmerman.
