Why do you suppose there's a desire on the part of some to split everyone into two camps over this?

Is dichotomy so ingrained that it's just too hard to conceive of people not needing to take opposing sides?

I think it's easier just not to care about this particular issue.

That said, I think Z needs a trial in like Maine or something.
