no, he is in jail because it became a political story.

he went a long time after killing the person to go to jail, and never would have if the political element did not enter into the situation.

Yes, that's how it works. People are put in jail and remain there until they are given a chance to prove they shouldn't have been jailed in the first place. Punishment imposed before guilt established "as it should be" (according to you.) That way, no guilty person ever goes unpunished even if found not-guilty by the jury.

It was Obama's public statement connecting himself to Martin by race that triggered his DOJ intervening into a state-criminal issue and then the massive get-Zimmerman legal efforts. That is the actual time line.
