It was unofficial that he said a racial slur but that was ALL OVER THE WEB. Just another way the media has brought in the race card to this case.

Any of them cases where someone was killed and the incident not investigated?

Any of them cases where controversial self-defense laws were an issue?

Any of them cases where racial profiling was potentially an issue?

It does to me. It tells me that Martin is one man. A tragedy, of that there's no doubt. But apparently what makes it a tragedy is that it's seen by many activists in the black community as an indication of racial prejudice. It's become a lightening rod for great wailing and gnashing of teeth. Jackson and Sharpton (and others, I'm sure) have used it for the usual face time...whipping up their base into a veritable frenzy.

All the while, the real and more pressing tragedy of black-on-black violence gets little attention at all. Especially by the Sharptons and Jacksons of this world. Their neighborhoods are war zones. Who gives a ****? If this senseless violence were happening in white suburban communities, we'd be mobilizing the National Guard.

I assume that carrying a gun on the duty was his decision too, and it also seems highly unnecessary since his duty is to call the police and report suspicious activity, not go chase and capture crooks, use lethal force or put himself at risk of lethal force.

This "race card" you speak of ..... where does it originate from? Why does it exists? Why is it such a powerful tool or even a powerful weapon? What created that "race card" in the first place?

Sharpton and Jackson do indeed address black-on-black violence. It's just that when they do, their comments aren't played out in the media as much because our society pretty much takes black-on-black violence as a given.

Aren't you both two of the main people saying that we shouldn't jump to conclusions about Zimmerman, his intentions, his thoughts and so on? Why is it okay for you to make such huge assumptions about millions of people you don't even know? Particularly, why would come to such negative conclusions about people when this case has so many unique factors that would obviously interest people more than day to day crimes that we're used to?

It was not being investigated UNTIL it became a national news story.

Neither did Zimmerman pursuing him. I get it. Zimmerman is an American hero. Every step step he made was rational, thought out and reasonable. He bears absolutely no responsibility for everything that happened. Hell, maybe Zimmerman didn't even shoot Martin, maybe in the scuffle Martin accidentally hit the trigger and shot himself!

As SB already said, many activists in the black community including Sharpton and Jackson address black on black crime and I've listened to Sharpton's radio show where he talks frequently about blacks can solve their own problems within their community. The fact that you and others continue to repeat this lie that they don't reveals your own ignorance rather than the apparent hypocrisy you think you've uncovered. You're just woefully unaware of what really goes in the "black community" and you're assuming that since you don't know about certain things, that they don't happen.

It's also worth noting the Martin/Zimmerman case is very unique from ordinary violence that happens in our country in a daily basis. That uniqueness is the main reason this case has gotten more media coverage than other cases and it's frankly ridiculous that you rather decide that people "don't care" about other cases than take into account that that the uniqueness of the case has had on impact on how people see it. I think it says more about you and others that you would rather jump to such negative conclusions than look at the more obvious explanation for all the coverage. It's the same reason why cases like Columbine get more coverage than day to day crimes - uniqueness. Jesus Christ.

Then that's what they should focus on. Pick a city. Chicago. Detroit. Cleveland. Hammer it home. Rouse the neighborhoods to action. Rouse law enforcement to a heightened awareness. They should put their energy 100% behind making a change in just one neighborhood. Not flitting from one perceived injustice to another. JMVHO.

Well now...lets see...did you happen to see the video of Zimmerman in cuffs at the police department following the incident? Not investigated? What planet do you live on? We can spend another year on this...and what will the net result be? Oh...wait...I know...MAYBE 1 more 'killing' by an overzealous neighborhoodwatchman (then again...maybe not) but definitely another 2,920 dead black people. Your 'perspective' is ****ed WAY up.
