Those Aren't Zimmerman's Cries on 911 Tape: Experts - Zimmerman claimed he was one crying for help, but evidence says no

One consultant used biometric voice analysis on the call, using computers to compare recordings of Zimmerman's voice and the 911 call. The software gave the voices a 48% match, well below the 90% needed to be the same. "As a result of that, you can say with reasonable scientific certainty that it's not Zimmerman," he says.

I don't know that it really comes to "proof" of anything, but it does at least throw a little doubt on Zimmerman's story.

In other news of really going WAAAAAAY too far:

Sanford March Compares Trayvon to Jesus Christ - Zimmerman ordered to take anger management after brush with law

Didn't deserve to die? I'd agree with that. Like Jesus? No.

I'm personally just sad that a 17 year old died.

Trayvon Martin did not deserve to die.
And former Florida Governor Jeb Bush thinks Zimmerman should be arrested.

I listened to the tape. Sounds like a kid to me, not a full grown adult. Unless that adult has Helium vocal cords.

I think I'm most disgusted with the caller who was "hiding" in her house because someone was screaming for help..then heard a gunshot. Speaking for myself, if I heard someone outside my home in a gated community screaming for help, I would have gone out there as fast as I could. But that's me.

I mean that could change some things, but given how none of us know for total what happened, I doubt anything will move forward.

Since noone knows exactly what happened it seems to me Bush is running his mouth for publicity and saying whats popular. But I suppose if a Bush said it it must be true huh?

I'm not sure there is much of a difference between a 17 year old and someone in their 20's. At least voice wise. If Trayvon were pre-pubescent, then you would have a good point.

It does carry some weight with Republicans. Otherwise nobody would ask him.

Trayvon Martin shooting: It's not George Zimmerman crying for help on 911 recording,

As the Trayvon Martin controversy splinters into a debate about self-defense, a central question remains: Who was heard crying for help on a 911 call in the moments before the teen was shot?

A leading expert in the field of forensic voice identification sought to answer that question by analyzing the recordings for the Orlando Sentinel.

His result: It was not George Zimmerman who called for help.

A second forensic expert has also confirmed that it was not Zimmerman screaming for help, as he claims. No comment from me needed here, folks.

Article is here.

Re: Trayvon Martin shooting: It's not George Zimmerman crying for help on 911 recordi

The plot thickens.
there are so many threads about this saga, it's going to need a subforum soon.

My thoughts are, we are never actually going to know what happened.
however, I beleive Zimmerman should stand trial and have the 'facts' sorted out in court.
Otherwise the kind of idle speculation by the medica (ala above) and the black community and every other man and his dog will continue.

Re: Trayvon Martin shooting: It's not George Zimmerman crying for help on 911 recordi

As I said in the thread I started about this same thing, I don't think it amounts to "proof" that it wasn't him. However, it should make you wonder about his story just a little bit.

Re: Trayvon Martin shooting: It's not George Zimmerman crying for help on 911 recordi

Well that's interesting. If it were Trayvon it seems that would suggest that by the time he was shot he was no longer a threat to Zimmerman, meaning self defense is a harder sell.

Re: Trayvon Martin shooting: It's not George Zimmerman crying for help on 911 recordi

the voice sounds like someone younger than Zimmerman.

that tape gave me goosebumps. :(

So, why are these experts talking to the media and not the cops?

Perhaps the SPD and regular citizens have different obligations in this case.
Just guessing. w/e

They were probably contracted by the Orlando Sentinel to take a look at it.

Personally, I am still of the opinion that you can't accurately make this determination using someone frantically screaming and comparing it to someone talking normal.

Or, perhaps these, "experts", are more interested in fueling the flames than anything else.

Did you notice the nice little plug that Owen Forensics, LLC got out of the article?

Last time I checked, it's not the job of the media, with the help of private citizens, to investigate and presecute other citizens. Kinda the whole reason that we have a justice system, to begin with.

Jus' sayin'.

You're probably right, which--IMO--doesn't lend much credibility, because the Sentinel may be printing the story they wanted, not necessarily the story they got.

I'm of the opinion that, for the most part, voice forensics is more akin to voodoo than forensics.

If you back your opinion up with appropriate data, I'd be willing to agree with you.

At first glance, it seems it's something we've been working since WWII and it is used regularly in multiple venues including law enforcement and intelligence gathering and has been used in courts across the country.
But I am open to new data if you have some.

Afaict, it actually IS the job of the media to investigate.

One of the reasons that we have freedom of the press to begin with.

Jus' sayin'.

Really, why do you think this proves he was no threat?

Like every other person and the media who can, these experts are trying to promote themselves and further exploit this situation.

Re: Trayvon Martin shooting: It's not George Zimmerman crying for help on 911 recordi

just send this damn thing to trial, like the Sanford police wanted.

then we'll get all the answers.

I didn't say it proved anything. I said it would seem to suggest....

What answers, no one has been charged? Why don't we throw Zimmerman in a shredder right, that's the least he deserves.....the murdering bastard; amiright?
