How will you or would vote on I-522

I would like to know how my fellow Washingtonians are going to vote on I-522 and those outside of the state on how would you vote on it if you could. I-522 is plan that would require new labeling and government regulations when it comes to food that have been Genetically modified.

Will Vote For Food - We say Yes on 522

Vote No on 522 - It's NOT what it seems

I live many miles away from WA, but am 100% for the labeling of GMOs.

Considering that food is a central core of health and wellbeing, and informed decisions make for better health, GMO and other ingredients should be identified not only on the raw food source (such as the bin of apples or tomatoes at the market) but in prepared foods as well.
Building block or stumbling block.... choose.

I-522 is going to cost the tax payers millions in order to fund the new government oversight, many companies are going to be given waivers and restaurants don't have to tell people if they use GMO products.

I'd vote yes. The reason is that ever since that SCOTUS decision giving Monsanto absolute rights to its "genetically identifiable" products, other farmers need to be protected. Recall, the issue arose because some Monsanto wheat seeds got into a non-Monsanto farm and the crop was awarded to Monsanto because of it's "patent rights." That farmer lost the benefits of his hard labor because of this.

Farmers should have access to the information to ensure none of their crops are at risk of similar seizures. It would enable them to test the seeds to prevent errors, and prevent the growth of crops that Monsanto might claim.

Please do me the courtesy of waiting a few minutes before "quoting" any comments. I often correct errors for a minute or two after I post any comment before the final product is ready. Thanks.

Considering what is being taxed and spent on the results of poor nutrition, I would like to think more informed food choices and decisions may have a better effect on the overall health of the populace. I'm not saying GMO is necessarily bad, but knowing if a food is GMO is a choice that should be available.

As to restaurants, that is also a choice people will make. If you know the GMO may be involved and don't want it, then don't eat there. The same cannot be said for all other foods, raw or prepared, without being forced to go and spend money on organic foods, since basic foods are a requirement of life and not everyone can afford the organic foods.
