The soldiers looked happy enough to be where they were, doing what they were doing. The people didn't seem overtly hostile. On another note, when I clicked on that video, there was another featured video on that site; this one's an interview with one of Barack Obama's half-brothers; this brother is living in China and just wrote a book. The interesting part is how much he looks and sounds so very much like Obama... unlike anyone else on either side of Obama's family. In light of the fact that the central theme of Obama's autobiography (and apparently brother Mark's autobiography, as well) is the struggle for identity caused by being biracial and bicultural, it seems Obama would be embracing this chap with open arms; they could be fraternal twins, so alike are they in looks and mannerisms, intonations, expressions, even manner of speaking. I do recall Obama making mention of this brother in Dreams From My Father; Mark made only a brief, cursory appearance in that book, however, and I got the feeling Obama didn't care for him all that much, at least at the time. I think it will be interesting to read Mark's book. I intend to buy it. Obama's Half Brother, a Kenyan American in China - Video - TIME.com |
