Funny though. The people detained don't fall under the Geneva Conventions.

I think you are right. That sounds like basic training at Fort Benning Georgia. Sleep deprivation, Forced standing and painful stress positions and Tear gas chamber.

What ever happened to good old fashioned torture when people lost fingers, were electrocuted, jammed sticks under finger nails, etc. I guess the absence of those kinds of torture has people looking to fill the void. ...civilians.
This is why pussyfist should not be in any position of power. If think if those pussies had it their way all the drill instructors in the US Army would be arrested for torture especially the infantry drill instructors.

So they really do exist. I'll be damned.
I wonder how many we'll find.

So every person who was drafted is a torture victim?

It's silly to attempt to compare that to actual torture.
It is silly to compare things that those of us who were in the miltiary have done as torture or what we do for training as torture.

Sleep deprivation, forced standing, painful stress positions or even water boarding is not equal nor comparable to actual torture.

Birthing and caring for a child includes various forms of torture, including sleep deprivation, forced standing, and painful stress positions.

Where did you get that Bold from?

My International Security Professor used the exact same analogy. "I sometimes put my daughter to bed early, is that torture?"

My Response is that 30 min of "sleep deprivation" will not produce the results in order to get the information you need to from the detainee. It will take, border-line, changing the circadian rhythm to put them in a non-prolonged aggressive state.

The fact is what you do to your child in the caring process is not what you are going to be doing to a detainee in the torturing process.

Oh, I was referring to the process of birthing and caring for a child from the parent's perspective. That **** is rough.

Says the ****ing Geneva Conventions...
Quote:
1. Members of the armed forces of a Party to the conflict as well as members of militias or volunteer corps forming part of such armed forces.

2. Members of other militias and members of other volunteer corps, including those of organized resistance movements, belonging to a Party to the conflict and operating in or outside their own territory, even if this territory is occupied, provided that such militias or volunteer corps, including such organized resistance movements, fulfil the following conditions:

(a) That of being commanded by a person responsible for his subordinates;

(b) That of having a fixed distinctive sign recognizable at a distance;

(c) That of carrying arms openly;

(d) That of conducting their operations in accordance with the laws and customs of war.

3. Members of regular armed forces who profess allegiance to a government or an authority not recognized by the Detaining Power.

4. Persons who accompany the armed forces without actually being members thereof, such as civilian members of military aircraft crews, war correspondents, supply contractors, members of labour units or of services responsible for the welfare of the armed forces, provided that they have received authorization from the armed forces which they accompany, who shall provide them for that purpose with an identity card similar to the annexed model.

5. Members of crews, including masters, pilots and apprentices, of the merchant marine and the crews of civil aircraft of the Parties to the conflict, who do not benefit by more favourable treatment under any other provisions of international law.

6. Inhabitants of a non-occupied territory, who on the approach of the enemy spontaneously take up arms to resist the invading forces, without having had time to form themselves into regular armed units, provided they carry arms openly and respect the laws and customs of war.
Terrorists do not fall under any of those articles.....

It's silly to compare a lack of sleep to "actual torture." Your freedom and absolute way of life has been protected by "soldiers" who have been less than gentlemanly in the conduct of war.

They taught me that what the common man in America believes in has no place in the real world. The real world would later legitimize that.

The Geneva Convention was about western mannerisms in war. Did the rest of the world sign on or did we assume superiority as white folk and force our rules on their play grounds? You deal with the academic classroom of warfare. Some of us just deal with warfare. While you shed a crocodile tear over a lack of sleep our enemies concern themselves how best to kill another American with the biggest splash of media coverage so that people such as yourself can have a bit of drama. No uniforms. No nation of origin. No responsibility to western codes of war. Just a thirst to murder in the name of God with a distracting earthly justification to fool the ignorant.

I could care less if our enemy has a rough time going to sleep. ...but I bet he has a Qu'ran. For a bunch of savage torturers, your protectors sure do care about their enemy's religious rights.
