I agree that holding Bin Laden's driver for five years is ridiculous and holding for life is so far over the top that I can't imagine it actually occurring.

As you note, there are already nukes in the ME. However, the countries mentioned do not have a history of threatening to use such weapons to force other countries to bend to their will. They are deterrents to attack of their countries by others. Iran does have such a history and is arguably not a good candidate for having nuclear capability as a result of this history.

You should do your homework before beginning a thread. Hamdan not only thanked the military jury at trial's end, he also repudiated bin Laden.

Hadman sentense was 66 months - 5 years and six months. The man has been held for five years already and military sources say he will not be released until the Iraqi war is over - which according to McCain may take 100 years. This is why I mentioned being held five years and possibly for life.
