Im often hearing the claim that we,re "not doing enough" about islamic extreamism or that we,re being "too soft" [as if dropping white phospherous on civillian areas wasnt being hard enough] So what ild like to know is what could we do about the problem that we,re not already doing?

The answer to your question could be non-military. I mean we could've done more to make sure Afghanistan didn't fade and crumble after we "saved" them from the Russians, we could have NOT supported the dictators in the ME, we could have insisted that the Lebanese and the Palestinians be treated fairly. There is so much we could've done, and should still do. However if you are looking at military solutions only, I agree we've done pretty much all we could and much more than we should.

I can agree the US could have done more but on the other hand so could the rest of the region. But god forbid that when they can just blame the US.

You make a false assertion. Just because I believe that we (the USA) could have done more, doesn't exclude that others should have done more as well.
