Israel has in the past won big by striking first, and taking out the Russian bombers, and the world did not go nuts because the Arabs were making loud and clear threats in time with a United Nations (of tyrants too) withdrawal of peacekeepers. Certainly, things are quite similar now; Israel's existence is threatened by a President Nasser/Ahamdinejad and the United Nations (of tyrants too) is not serious about the threat.
It is believed we are too occupied, or cannot get involved, due to the aid and comfort of saying our Operation Iraqi Freedom was illegal, and just like in the past it looks like the Israeli ambassador does not care about our progress. All that is needed is for Israel to act without us, and to make our Dwight mad. The bad guys will come out smelling good. Failure of our progress in Iraq, and a failure to remove the problem in Iran, could repeat the past, making bad look good, making a greater threat requiring more first strikes.
Time and again taking out the Weapons and not the problem leaves the problem. We are told, "Israel's official policy is to allow diplomacy every chance to succeed." Success in Iraq, with the majority Shiite Democracy as a peer group, is the diplomacy. Do everything you can with diplomacy, then if it fails, kill what needs killing.
Israel may have a fantastic military dependent upon nobody, but right now our military depends upon our diplomatic progress in Iraq.

Yeah, a wall and a border patrol will protect us. {sound of laughter}
