With the partisan blame game over the current meltdown in Iraq consuming much of the media's attention, NBC News' chief foreign correspondent Richard Engel is reporting on the increased terrorism threat Americans face from ISIS radicals as they establish a stronghold in the crisis-stricken country. Engel -- who was kidnapped and released in Syria in 2012 -- tweeted a series of disquieting assessments from US national security sources (via Noah Rothman):

Engel's sources say that roughly 70 American nationals have taken up arms with ISIS in the region over the course of the violent unrest, with about a dozen "currently active:" McClatchy reported last week that thousands of Europeans have joined the jihad in Syria, and now Iraq -- worrying counter-terrorism officials, who call the 'tourism terrorism' numbers "unprecedented:"

At least 320 Germans and more than 2,000 other Europeans are thought to have made the trip -- so many that last week Turkish Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erodgan asked European nations to stop their citizens wanting to join the fight in Syria and now Iraq from traveling to Turkey...European Union Counter-Terrorism Coordinator Gilles de Kerchove this month noted that the phenomenon of young Muslims leaving Europe to fight elsewhere is decades old. But the current numbers dwarf previous migrations. He described the current flow as “huge.” “Compared to previous jihads, it’s unprecedented,” he said. The trend is openly discussed in Germany, France, the United Kingdom, the Netherlands and Italy. Europe has long needed immigrant labor, but it has done little to integrate those who come from Muslim regions--North Africa, Pakistan and the Middle East. Their children often grow up without close ties to their adopted nations and end up finding a sense of community online and in the radical splinters of Islam set up to prey upon the lost.....snip~

I say, let's recognize the new nation of ISIS, the Islamic caliphate.

Then, let's declare war on it.

It would be much cleaner to be engaged in war against a foreign nation than against a tactic of warfare such as terrorism.

Well the Saud wont go for it.....means they aren't in line like they have told all they are. Although I don't know what they are going to do about the Shura Council.

Not to mention its not like they can do anything Militarily anyways. Their worried about attacks in their country even more now. They have upped their security and military forces alert.

Plus they sure aren't talking to much about what was taken from that Iraqi Military base. Other than the tanks and trucks.

The US doesn't declare war on Islamic groups. The US supports them. By this means we will indefinitely be at war with them and the MIC that Ike warned of will be perpetually fed.


Operation Cyclone was the code name for the United States Central Intelligence Agency program to arm and finance the Afghan mujahideen prior to and during the Soviet war in Afghanistan, 1979 to 1989. The program leaned heavily towards supporting militant Islamic groups that were favored by neighboring Pakistan, rather than other, less ideological Afghan resistance groups that had also been fighting the Marxist-oriented Democratic Republic of Afghanistan.

Yes, we do have a history of supporting militant Islam when it suits our purpose. What I'm saying is that we depart from that policy, and that we actually declare war on ISIS, not a limited undeclared war, not a "nation building" project, not winning hearts and minds, but actually declare war and go all out to wipe them from the face of the Earth. Nothing less is going to win the so called "war on terror."

The Islamic militant group currently marching across Iraq trying to seize territory in order to create an Islamic state has purportedly published a map showing their plans for the next five years.

The maps were widely shared on Twitter this weekend. They show parts of Africa, the Middle East, and even Europe shaded in black, to represent the territories that ISIS hopes will be part of its Sunni-run state.

If this threat of an attack on us soil, who wants to bet that these people came in through the open border to the south?


Seriously, in the past year, Obama has gone from the point of being a piss poor president to bordering on being a treasonous president... The middle ground for left-right on this issue at this point should be impeachment.

I agree BM. :2wave: I did notice on the ISIS map they didn't include Sicily or Italy. They must not want any problems with a certain group involved in Organized Crime and has Connections and people all over the planet. That they themselves can even play Ma Bell.....and reach out and touch someone.

Another fabric of Society that Sunni and Shia Arabs cannot handle.

Check out how the AP words this article. They didn't want to say that this is ISIS's #2 Man or something. Yet why haven't we heard about this guy who likes facetime with a camera? Especially when it has been known what he was doing inside Syria.

Omar al-Shishani, one of hundreds of Chechens who have been among the toughest jihadi fighters in Syria, has emerged as the face of the Islamic State of Iraq and the Levant, appearing frequently in its online videos — in contrast to the group's Iraqi leader, Abu Bakr al-Baghdadi, who remains deep in hiding and has hardly ever been photographed.

Al-Shishani has been the group's military commander in Syria, leading it on an offensive to take over a broad stretch of territory leading to the Iraq border. But he may have risen to become the group's overall military chief, a post that has been vacant after the Iraqi militant who once held it — known as Abu Abdul-Rahman al-Bilawi al-Anbari — was killed in the Iraqi city of Mosul in early June. Alexander Bortnikov, the head of Russia's Federal Security Service, the main KGB successor agency known under its Russian acronym FSB, said last October that about 500 militants from Russia and hundreds more from other ex-Soviet nations are fighting in Syria. Al-Shishani, whose real name is Tarkhan Batirashvili, is an ethnic Chechen from the Caucasus nation of Georgia, specifically from the Pankisi Valley, a center of Georgia's Chechen community and once a stronghold for militants.....snip~

Can you believe this.....The Invisible Sheik now says Rome will be conquered next. He really must have been hitting the opium up, huh? He goes after the Catholic Church or Italy. Not only will he have to deal with all Government forces. But then all those that make up the fabric of society. I doubt he wants to see The MAFIA, COSA NOSTRA, DRUG CARTELS, and the SYNDICATE.....just out killing Muslims wholesale.

Abu Bakr al-Baghdadi, the self-proclaimed caliph of the newly-formed caliphate across Iraq and Syria, has issued a statement that Muslims should utilize the month of Ramadan to escalate jihad and fight for Allah. Bagdhadi also said that Muslims should aim to take over Rome in order to "own the world."

"Those who can immigrate to the Islamic State should immigrate, as immigration to the house of Islam is a duty," he said in an audio recording released on a website used by the group formerly known as the Islamic State of Iraq and al-Sham.

"Rush O Muslims to your state. It is your state. Syria is not for Syrians and Iraq is not for Iraqis. The land is for the Muslims, all Muslims.

"This is my advice to you. If you hold to it you will conquer Rome and own the world, if Allah wills." .....snip~
