The layers of Islam

Thanks and I will add them to the list. But be aware that due to my involvement in the Muslim community I have strong thoughts and feelings on this topic. I am open to a degree but with extreme reservation. My former ideas on this topic have been altered in the extreme. I know first hand what Muslim women suffer under this type of thinking.

If you haven't already check out a book called, Breaking the Silence - French Women's Voices from the Ghetto, by Fadela Amara.

The author is the founder of an organization called Ni Putes, Ni Soumises aimed at breaking the code of silence that exists within the French Algerian/North African immigrant Islamic population as it relates to the subjugation of women.

I'm sure you'd appreciate it.

I love the blatant fear mongering you are relying on here. I mean for ****s sake its in the title of the article...

But not the title of my thread. Speaking of posting bias threads, when do you plan to post your next one?

Critisim of islam by religious conservatives is not a smart thing to do

Why not? Can one not be knowledgeable of Islam if one is a conservative? Does one have to be non-conservative or only a Muslim to be knowledgeable concerning Islam? Western critics of Islam usually only use Islamic texts to discuss Islam; they are not making up what is in the Koran, or the Hadiths and they are not making up Mohammad's life either. It's all there for anyone to read. Western critics of Islam are usually more informed about Islam than many of the world's Muslims - as they have spent decades studying Islam, they are more informed than a Muslim from an African village for example.

I imagine you are only interested in the thoughts/writings of people who do not criticise Islam - an apologist. The days of westerners staying ignorant about Islam are long gone, thanks to the internet and more information available now, it is much easier for the average person to read about Mohammad's life and more and more people are learning about just how despicably evil that man was. That's a good thing!

...................The days of westerners staying ignorant about Islam are long gone, ........
Your whole post points to that not being the case at all, on the contrary, with every Tom, Dick and Harry that's untrained in critical dissemination, I fear serious scholarship is by far out-shouted by the ignorant masses.

This alone
more and more people are learning about just how despicably evil that man was
is a typical example of how unreflected bullcrap can rise to popular heights by enough uneducated twits shouting the same thing.

There's much to criticize in Islam itself, in its practice by many and in its deluded misappropriations. But most spouting forth over it have no idea as to what.

So if you want to merely see already formed bias confirmed, I suggest you save yourself the money on buying ANY book. The net will indeed serve you well.
