As we armed the Taliban under the USSR? That went really well.

To be fair, it is the only time in US history where arming the rebels actually resulted in an (initial) outcome that the U.S. actually sought.

We armed the Northern Alliance which was still a pro-western force in Northern Afghanistan on 9/11. It's telling, though, that you blame the US for the state of Afghanistan rather than the Soviets. :roll:

Nice deflection. Let's try this again: how did it go arming the Taliban in Afghanistan during the USSR occupation?

To be fair, it is the only time in US history where arming the rebels actually resulted in an (initial) outcome that the U.S. actually sought.

Initial, but not long term. All must be taken into consideration.
