The National Cancer Institute recently released its report on medical marijuana. The overview of their conclusion is, THC (the active ingredient in marijuana) caused a 45 percent reduction in bladder cancer, remission in breast and liver cancer and more.

That's pretty big, because there have been a lot of studies coming out saying it does little to nothing.

Well, I took at look the original source, (the cancer.gov site). It appears that the site you linked to , a site that is promoting the legalization of marijuana, exaggerated greatly. That isn't to say that there might not be promising leads (the cancer.gov site stresses the importance of finding out).

Back in the 80's, DEA Administrative Law Judge Francis Young ruled that marijuana was "one of the safest therapeutic agents known to man", and he found that after several days of hearings on the matter. The issue at hand was the medical classification of the substance, to lower it from "most dangerous" category to something more reasonable and accurate.

The DEA refused to follow Young's recommendation.

Ah, the beat goes on.....

Seems to me to be a battle between the law enforcement industry (as there is big money keeping pot illegal,) protecting their revenue stream and big pharma who can 1.) fight legalization to protect their revenue from the other drugs they sell, or 2.) Embrace the medical value of it and start making money on it themselves.

But one thing for sure, at the end of the day, whatever decisions our lawmaker's make in Washington will fall on the side of whomever puts the most money into the lawmaker's pocket.

One of the biggest arguments from law enforcement officers for not legalizing pot is it's a gateway drug. They're still stuck on that silly tag line. Yet we hear very little about heroin users started out with a legal prescription for Vicodin.

There's also Big Alcohol in the fight against legalization.

Exactly

As much as I want to see an end to this ridiculous prohibition its important we rely on facts and scholarly sources to make our claims. To the OP I do believe it has some cancer fighting properties, I know first hand that it helps me manage my arthritis. Its important to the cause we keep pushing to remove it from schedule 1

legalization of marijuana is a grass roots effort, the people are finally having there voices heard and we no longer accept the governments lies of the last 80 years
